Thank you for the responce. It is nice to meet others that are in the process and to read the excitment. I started  my journey on June 27th and will soon have a surgery date. I am a mother of 4 boys who are ages 16,13,10,&6. My husband and I have been married for 21 years and been through a ton. He supports me with my choice to have the surgery done and has been following the diet with me.... My insurance has a pre op diet in place to help us along to meet our surgery goal.  My highest weight was 305 and currently resting at 254.4 lbs. Im 5'5" and am 39 years old. My best friend had the surgery done a year and half ago and has had great success. I have been very lucky to get great information from everyone one who is caring for me. Nice to meet you. I am Sherry from South Carolina. I too am in the process and still talking to my Dr. on have WLS.
I went in to see a Dr. about having surgery for my Reflux, and as he was explaining what he would have to do, I ask (just kidding) if he could do gastric surgery while he was in me.
OMG,,,,,,,,,,,,he told me, "Yes, he was just thinking the same thing.
Never in a million years did I think I could have this done.
 Long story short, I met with Dr who would do my surgery. He was super nice and gave  me alot to think about.
  That was 2 wks ago today and I have another appt. with him next Monday to talk with him again.
  I am scared but this is something I have prayed about for years and believe its God's answer to my prayers.
I am 5'3 , weigh 232 and 55 yrs. old.  I don't feel that old either. lol
 I have two grown children, both married and happy. My husband tells me he will support me in my decision.  We have been married over 35 yrs.

Hi Lynda I just read your email message I like have you as my penpal I read that your surgery date is on Sept 1, 2010 what kind of weightloss surgery are you having I had my surgery in 1993 and had the Gastric Bypass Surgery I weight 438 pounds and over the years weight down to 260 pounds and over the years I gain back most of the weight to 367 pounds most of all my pre weight came back I said all of this is having the surgery is only an tool you have to do your part listen the Doctor, Dietician, if you are marry get your support from your spouse and family and friends that will help your weightloss journey and the long haul join an support group like here online and in person in your town.

not a good day today.  i went for my 4 month check up and i have actually gained weight.  kinda depressing, dr was trying to figure out what to do with me without hurting my feelings but what do you do.  he decided to up my meds to help with weight loss but it has a horrible side effect of making me very hot.  i work in a kitchen and if that isn't hot enough, add this script to it and i feel like i am dieing.  apparently my cholerestoral medicine isn't working to his satisfaction either. 
on the positive side, i have 2 more months of this supervised stuff then it all gets turned into insurance.  i hope it goes by quickly cuz this is getting harder and harder.
