Topic: Looking for an e-pal - doing sleeve in 1 week (je parle français)
Hello, bonjour !

I am set for surgery on 8/16 (RNY or sleeve) and I would love to have an e-pal for emails, messages, IMs or texting about similar feelings.

I am French speaking too, so if you speak French, we could do this in French too...

I'm a mom of three, wife of muscular, slim husband and a high school teacher.

Let me know if you are interested.

Jeannie

Hi Tamika,

its a pleasure to hear from you. I'm glad to hear you had your surgery so how are your feeling. How has your recovery been going? I'm slightly anxious but I'm hoping that's normal since i am having surgery this week. Yes i am having the RNY, and i definitely will keep you updated.

talk to your later,
Anne

I am in KC also... I am just guessing from your screen name that we might be neighbors.

If you are close enough i would love a exercise partner.

Topic: RE: RNY this winter? From the beginning Penpal
Hello All,

I am also in the process of a work up for gastric bypass surgery.  I have one more dietician group and should then be referred to the surgeon who I must see prior to my insurance being filed for the procedure.  I am thinking I will have surgery late this year.  I have lost my required 5% and am working out regularly.  I am 38 years old and live in NC.  I feel ready for this journey but would love to have some buddies along the way.  I would love it if we could help one another.

Thanks....
Jennifer

Hey,
Sorry, I looked at your date wrong for the procedure.  I just so month and date not year.  How much weight did you have to lose?  I need to lose a total of 174 to reach my goal.  Right now I am finishing up with most of the doctor appts.  I have two on Monday.  I have to see a Cardiologist and Pulmonary doctor because when I did the ABG test it showed that my oxygen level in my blood was only at 80%.  So I will be cleared hopefully (fingers crossed) with them and then I have all of my pre operative appts in Oct.  I am trying to get ready mentally.  Do you have to take a lot of vitamins?
My husband and family is being very supportive right now but you know that they are saying wow isn't this being drastic.  I really thought long and hard about it and health wise I am in really bad shape.  I am only 39 and between the diabetes, cholesterol, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, joints hurt   you might as well say I am 100.  One of my friends had the DS done and she has been good support for me.

Why won't the insurance pay for the removal of excess skin or boob lift?  Some people told me if you can prove that you are having rashes or infections because of the skin they will cover it.  Not sure, but something worth looking in to.
Well I better get back to work.
Talk to you soon,
Denise

Hi Denise, Thanks for writing so fast. Wow, I really was not expecting someone to respond so quickly. I already had my surgery 2 years ago. I met my goal.  I so look forward to keeping in touch with you during your journey. I feel great and all that I have been through has been worth it. I have such a wonderful husband who supported me through all of it. I now wish I could have some skin removed and a boob job, but my insurance won't cover it. But that is OK, because I feel great.
I am excited for you. You will feel fantastic! Write back when you can, hugs, April
