Hello, I am Sara.  Your surgery date is my 18 month post op date!  It is a big day for me but scary as well...I still have 40 lbs to lose but I was just approved to have the excess skin and fat taken off my lower stomach...so that should get 20 lbs off of me!
I would love to chat and help you thru the process as you can definitely keep my memories fresh!
LEt me know!

Topic: RE: Looking for email penpal for mutual support
Hello, I am Sara I am 30 and I had my gastric bypass surgery 18 months ago! Actually 18 months exactly this Wednesday!
I too have the problem with mental eating! I hide a lot of my food...I did before surgery and I find myself doing it today!  The difference is...before I was unaware or I would actually say I was in such denial of doing it that I just didnt pay attention to it...and because of that I was 312 lbs when I first visited my surgeon...I am now 181 lbs and still losing!  ALthough it has slowed down a lot!
I have created a whole team around my weight loss....my first starts at home with my boyfriend who will tell me if he notices an increase in my eating...outside of my  home I have a nutritionist to help with ideas and keeps me weighing myself weekly!  Then I have a shrink who is helping me figure out why I am doing what I am doing...we are working on my hiding of food right now!  I also go to my surgeons monthly support group meeting!  That helps a lot!
Anyway...the reason I decided to write to you is that the way I look at surgery and why I chose to have it was this....
I feel that I was taken back in time...When I was younger and was given the choice (unknowingly) to either live to eat or slow down and eat to live....I obviously chose to live to eat! Dont get me wrong...I LOVE FOOD...I still do! But now that I went thru life living to eat and found out what it would be like...I am chosing the second option...I have a redo!  I am starting at a lower weight again and I am going to change my life and take the second road....I am going to learn that moderation is just as good as over doing it...
EIther way...I feel like I am talking in circles!
I would love to talk to you and I am trying to make new friends who are going thru what I am and what I was going thru!
:)
Hope to hear from yoU!

How are you all doing?  I went in for my revision surgery yesterday but ended up with just a band removal.  My band had slipped and damaged my stomach.  Can't do anything for 3 months...

Hi Boo,

My name is Karrie and I live in Oregon.  My RNY surgery was done on Aug. 31, 2010.  I too am looking for a pen pal just to talk to and maybe learn new things from.  I am a 52 yr. old with two grown boys, 30 and 26.  I live with my fiance Larry.  There are so many things about surgery and what follows after that I have that I have questions about.  I m at the soft food stage and it's about to KILL ME!!. I can't find enough foods that have alot of protein that I like to get the thru the day.  I'm so afraid my hair is going to fall out. lol  I have  been to Obesity Help.com in forum/chat room but it's too busy, and I'd like to talk person-to-person in any form.  I look forward to your reply, Boo.

Thanks
Karrie

Hi Jo
I also have 3 kids, My oldest  son (CJ) is 23 My daughter (Nicole) is 17 and my youngest son (Salvatore) is 11. I was a band parent with my daughter. It was an awesome time. SHe just graduated HS and started the Police Academy, so no more Band for me
You have done awesome with your weight loss so far. I feel like i'm stuck. I only lost 24 lbs in 4 weeks. I really need to get out and walk more. But things around here have been really crazy and I've been running around for everyone else.
I'm sorry to hear about your stricture. I've never heard of that complication before. I hope the dr can correct that for you.
If you want, if it's easier for you, you can contact me on Facebook or email me at  [email protected]. I don't get onto the computer much, but I do get updates to my phone by FB & e-mail.

Talk to you soon
