Hi Shannon and Elite! I am new to this board and would love to have some pen pals. I am currently trying to jump through all the insurance hoops to get my surgery date. I'm on month 4 of a dr. supervised diet, did the sleep study and the psychologist. I have to go back for another sleep study because (oh yay) I have sleep apnea. But, from what I've read on here, that may be a blessing in disguise. It sounds like it helps get that final ok from insurance. When I read your story, Elite, I can totally relate. No one can unless they are here. I find I have good days and bad. Don't beat yourself up over the weight gain. You were taking care of others. Now it's your turn. I felt like a light bulb when off in my head one day. Too bad it didn't turn on faster! I just saw pictures of myself at my brother-in-laws wedding, oh my. I didn't even recognize myself. You guys are not alone!

Hi Shannon, I am also in that range of 350 lbs, I have always taken care of everyone in my family and my late husband , so of course I didn't see what was happening to me.Wow it took me to have my home painted for me to look in my chinacloset which is made of glass, to see all that stuff sitting next to me . I was so upset and cried for hours "How did I let this happen "...Depressed ain't the word. So I looked and said to myself I don't want to live my life as a disable person, for I have to much spirit and youth to give up now. I was going for the Lap-Band , and then I read what other people wrote about it, and made me change my mind.I am going for the VSG.. I want this to be long term and not a fighting battle. I have meant with my surgion and He asked me what made me want to do this, and I told him "Me"..He said ok your ready. There is so much to do before you even get to that point, but hey I reather do this than take pain pills for the rest of my life. Thank you for your reply and Nice to meet you....Pin-Pal... I will give you an update as to whats happening with me...So have a nice day and read as much as you can on what you want....I know your little girl will be so Happy for you....Get back to you soon to tell you what the Pych. had to ask me today......Elite52

Congrats on your surgery! It's just nice to have someone to talk to. I'm pretty convinced that my non-bypass friends are so tired of listening to me talk about food, surgery, side effects and food, food , food. What do you do for work? I am a receptionist in a dental office 4 days a week. My husband works 6 twelve hour night shifts a week so I am alone with my son 90% of the time. This last year prior to surgery I did gain about 40 lbs because of eating due to loneliness, depression issues. So it felt like a long road to get here. I wish I would have done my surgery 10 years ago cuz I feel so good. If you have any questions or concerns at all or need advice I am here.

First...LOVED the big bliss say yes to the dress....I am 18 months post op and definitely understand the fear that those ladies have! I still have it eventhough I am down 131 lbs!!

I am preparing for my plastic surgery to get rid of my excess skin and fat!! YAY!

Hello, I am Sara...I am 18 months post op...I go to my monthly meetings but I am someone who will sit in the back and listen more than voice my opinion...I have had a wonderful experience through the last 18 months but I feel often I am doing it alone...because people who havent had the surgery done dont quite understand things...especially my body image problems...I see the weight loss in my face and I know I have lost 131lbs...but when I look in a mirror...I do not see it anywhere but my face!
I was also just approved to have insurance pay to have my lower stomach taken off which I am super excited about but getting a little nervous!
ANYWAY....I would love to talk to anyone...pre or post op
Just people who understand what life is when involved in WLS! :)
