I am sooo sorry I didn't respond back sooner. I have been checking my email each day waiting for replies and haven't seen any so I decided to come in and check my posts and there you are. I guess I better learn how to use this site a little better =D.
I am ok with listening to you about whatever you want to talk about. If you have any problems or advice talk away.
I work as a cook in a nursing home, one of the reasons I have put on so much weight in the past 4 years. I am working under my sister-in-law and sometimes it is REALLY hard. Lots of family drama and I am kinda stuck in the middle, married to the brother and the sister is my boss. CRAZY!!!
I guess my biggest concern is after surgery and loss of weight, what do you do to help with the hanging skin? I have lost 46 lbs since I started my 6 months dr visits and now starting this crazy liquid diet before the surgery. I have noticed jiggly already and I am very scared about it getting worse. I have been drowning myself in lotion as much as possible but not sure if that is even helping.
Got any advice about what to take for my hospital stay? Gonna get me a new pair of jammies, a robe and some slippers, I already have my chapstick because I was told it was horrible for chapped lips.

I'm not in exactly the same spot, I'm a little farther down the road since I just found out on 10/13/10 that my surgery will be in January. I would still be interested in being penpals with you so we can help each other in the tough months to come.

I have turned in my application for WLS (RNY) to my local WLSurgery Center which happens to be Duke University Medical Center in Durham NC. It's been about 3 weeks since I mailed it in. I plan to call them tomorrow to check on the status. I'm looking to connect with someone who is in the same stage as me...hoping to have WLS (RNY) and have applied to have it. I think it's very important to connect with folks who are going thru the same thing as you. I have a male co-worker who had RNY at Duke last Wed. 10/13 so I kinda do have someone to talk to who has been there/done that. But it's still nice to be able to communicate with someone who is in the same exact spot as you. Believe me, I'm thankful that I'll have my co-worker as a sounding board if I do go thru with this surgery. I'm leaning towards it pretty hard right now. He's like my testing ground...I plan to observe him and see how he gets along. It will at least be in late January or early February before I could have the procedure anyways so that will give me some time to watch him. He won't be back to work for about 2 weeks now. But I plan to email him at home to see how he's getting along. So far, he's going alright.

how are you? Thank you for the well wishes!.. this journey was long over due. I started out at 345lbs.. now im 278lbs. it took me quite a while to even get up the guts to go through the process. what surgery did you get or want to get? I go to OCCC all week so i get a chance to get out of the house to do something. if i wasnt doing that i would be a couch potatoe. but its good that im getting out being active.

Hi Hockymom, welcome aboard, Oh this is so going to be a wonderful trip with pin-pals like you guys....I am trying to do the same with my insurance company.I just meant the the doc. that is going to supervise my diet...I had no idea it was going to cost so much...I will do it, but the funnest thing is that since I meant my surgeon Oct.1st, I have lose a total of 10 lbs. I just started eating the right things.But first I made sure I had nothing in my refrigerator. I have been riding my exercise bike quite frequently.Anyway my surgery is in March of 2011. If this keeps up, well who knows...lol... I will be here always for you guys and fill you in on my experience....be back soon.... Rose "We can do this Girls"

I am 15 mons out. I have stayed the same weight for about 2 mons now. getting frustrates cuz I would like to lose more. If you need to know any more info to make your decision let me know.
