Hello there, i had the vertical sleeve surgery 3/21/11 and i was the biggest chicken ( still am :) ) , luckly for me i did with y sister who wasnt a chicken at all. She helped me through everything and now all she says is "i told you so". I was afraid of the meds, then the cutting, and i worried about everything, so what i did was pray and all my fears were gone, i knew the lord wouldnt leave me, so with that i will tell you to pray and leave it all in God's hands, he will see you through this. I came out of surgery with no complications, only took 40 minutes, and i thank god i did it. so if you need to chat or just talk email me at [email protected]. i know exactly what you are feeling, but trust me when i say it will all be worth it.

I am having surgery RNY on 6/27 and i really would like to have someone who has been through it all help me. Is there anyone out there who has felt like the biggest chicken and still survived it all? I feel like the fear will kill me long before the fat will! I am scared to death and hope other will encourage me about the actual surgery..

Hi Eliza,
Good luck with the RNY, who is your surgeon? Where outside of Philly are you from? I didn't mean to make it sound like my husband wasn't supportive because he is, i just feel like i want to talk to someone who knows exactly what i'm going through. He listens to me but can't fully understand. My girls (8 and 9) don't understand why i did his, they thought i was perfect the way i was. Lol....cute kids.
Thanks so much for the response, It's nice to know someone was looking.
Have a great day,
Gina

Hi
I live outside of Philadelphia, and hope to have RNY in a couple of months. Although I don't have little kids any more (my youngest is in college), I understand what you're going through with family. Although my husband doesn't really understand, he is very supportive. My kids don't say much at all, - of course 2 of the 3 are very thin (my daughter is 6 ft tall, 140 lbs). My elderly mother is dead set against it, so I need to be careful what I say.
I think it's great that you went ahead and did something so positive for you and your health.
Take Care

Hi Grace,
My name is Kari and I am going under the knife next week 6-27. I was wondering how you are
doing? I know it all went well and I was hoping you might share your experiences with me as I am feeling just like you were! Thanks!
