8 weeks out - need pen-pal.....
Been having a hard time lately, between pretty bad fatique and depression. It would be awesome to have a regular pen-pal, especially someone who had surgery around the same time as me (Jan).
My email is [email protected]. Hope to hear from somebody!

Hi Melissa-
I had RNY surgery approximately a month before you. Around the time you were having surgery I was diagnosed with cancer. I have had three surgeries since then and things are going well. Fatigue is something I am familiar with, I still can't make it past 6pm if I walk and exercise. What is depressing you? Is it your limited food choices, not losing fast enough, the good food on TV? Try to keep a journal of what you eat and what you are feeling at the time, especially if you are snacking. I know I have days where I can eat almost anything without any trouble and then boom-everything makes me vomit and nauseous. Try and hang in there. I am lucky I have a large support group of friends and family. Everyone is supportive, from work to home, or at least they make the effort. I have lost about 70 lbs. and someone I worked with had the same surgery done about 5 years ago. In the same time period she lost 135 lbs., but I figure she had a lot more to lose than I did. She has been a great source of information for me. Try to keep positive, don't let the gloom get you down, when the negative thoughts creep in-try to replace them with positive thoughts. Even if it's something small, like your clothing being looser, or how your saving money on food. Try humor. In case you think I have no familiarity with depression, you're wrong. Not that long ago I used to curse the singing birds, because I couldn't fathom why they were so happy! E-mail me anytime. I know what the downs feel like maybe I can find you something to laugh at to get you through. Blessing and health.
