Hi Kem...it was good to hear from you....where do you live? I did attend the first support group last month and am going to another one on Tuesday morning.
I am still struggling with the surgery itself as I have real anxiety about goiing under anesthesia. But with will power and determination, I hope to do it. I still have not found out if my insurance will cover this surgery....I pray it does.
I find family and friends have very negative feelings about doing this but they should understand how long I have been struggling with my weight as you proably have...I have tried every diet available and every pill available so now I am determined to try this. I do work out at my local gym 4-5 days a week so I have that going for me.
I think I will get a surgery date in June if all goes well. Please keep in touch and let me know how things are going.....Jan
Hi Jan.. I live in Virginia, married with a little girl who is 3 and my biggest inspiration for surgery. Igot a letter from Charolett NC telling me they received my paper work so I guess the paper trail has begun. People can be very negitive about this surgery but it is your decision. My parents and sisters are really the only people in my family who know becouse it is no ones buseniss what I do. The girls I work with at the Dylisas unit know and they are very supportive. My boss who is my best friend hads gastric bypass last year and is doing fine. She would be the first to tell you to go for it. Ill be your support you can tell me all the exciting things going on ok. My husband wouldnt talk about it for a long time but he has come around.Have you called your insurance and ask if they will cover you?I called mine and ask all they can do is tell you no and then you get with your doctor and make him get on their case. And no no one will ever understand about surgery becouse they dont know what it is like to have tried every thing and nothing ever work. I have been over weight all my life and if some one told me standing on my head 20 minutes a day would help me lose a few pounds I would have done it.Most of my life has been spent worring about my weight.I AM FED UP!!!! So I am having surgery.
I know it is a life time thing but this is what I fell is best for me and I can do this look what I have done for the past 38 years. I guess the anstheisa part dont worrie me becouse of how much better things will be afterwards. What is the old saying YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE BAD TO GET THE GOOD. I you would like we can E-Mail instead of using the help site my address is [email protected] and I can not spell so just look over me.
Take care and hope to hear from you soon.
