2 1/2 years post op......and gaining weight

I had my procedure 6/5/2009.  I lost approximately 80 pounds in the first year.  Then I got married, and my weight loss journey has gone downhill since then.

I would love to find someone else in similar situation that is also needing support.  I don't want to fail....

I am in the same boat as you. I am 3 1/2 years out I had the VSG done. I also lost about 85 pounds the first year. But then I got preg. My child is now almost 11 months old and I am noticing all the bad choices I have made, food wise, over the past year and a half.
I to do not want to fail, I even have emailed my surgons office to see if there is any advice that he can offer me.
If you like I am in need some some support to, and I would like to do this together.

Hi Karen-

Thanks for your email!!!  I wasn't sure if anyone would respond or not.

First of all- congratulations on your baby!!!  I am really wanting to have one, but can't decide if I should do that, then get serious about my band or if I should lose the weight first.  I'm sure it would be healthier for me and the baby if I lost the weight first, but I am 38 now, and I don't want to wait until I'm 40 to have one.  Decisions, decisions......

A little about my weight loss journey.  My sister and I both had LapBand surgery on 6/5/2008.  The first year, we were each other's cheerleader and support system.  She had less weight to lose than I did, and therefore met her goal weight before I did.  I continued to lose weight, but it did seem to slow down a little.

In January 2009, I met my husband.  At first I was diligent about exercising and eating healthy, but it got harder and harder to do that when I really wanted to eat the same things he was eating.  I started drinking with my meals, and since I had a hard time with meat, I turned to sweets.  In addition, it was costing $175 each time I went in for a fill with the insurance plan I had.

I haven't had a fill since the first part of 2011.   I am preparing  to go back in January 2012, but I am embarassed for my doctor and his staff to know that so far I have failed miserably.

That's where I'm at- in a nutshell!!!!!  Please feel free to share more about yourself!

I am 8 years post op and gaining till now. I directly see what happened. I got married and had a child and my lifestyle changed dramatically. I quit exercising because I didn't have any time and ate convenience foods. NOT NO MORE! I am regaining my life back and doing everything I haven't been doing!

 Hi,

I know exactly how you feel. I had Roux-en-Y done in March 2009. I done really well until I relocated with my job in Jan 2010 and had various problems all round.

I started grazing and falling back into some really bad habits causing me to gain 28lbs.

I have now taken a long hard look at myself and am determined to get back on track. I started the 5-day pouch test on Monday and am really surprised at how well I'm sticking to it. (we'll see how good it's really going when i weigh myself on Saturday )

It would be great to have some support from somebody who can honestly say, 'I know what you're going through' and also to support you as I too am determined not to fail. Especially whilst the weather is sooooo cold, and I constantly think of comfort things whi*****ludes stuffing my face or indulging in some wine .

Good luck, and keep us informed on how your doing
