Hello Misty,

The surgery is ok, the restriction is awesome, in my experience even from day one when I was drinking water with the sleeve I have never experienced this type of restriction with the band.  I do not feel a bulge where my port was at.  I do not throw up.  I had to switch because I had slippage with the band.  Do your homework, talk to others.  There is a also a revision forum that you can go into and they will also be very helpful in answering questions.  If you have further questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks,

santos:)

Thanks so much Santos!!! I appreciate the info!! Everyone keeps telling me to do my research, but I am so overwhealmed looking at all of the information. There are always going to be those that support your decision and those that don't ugh!!! I really think the bypass would be better for me, but I don't like all the complications. I like the sleeve better, but I am afraid of failing again. I have severe reflux with band and after 2 yrs of sucess, all water is out and I need a revision. I have a lot to think about, but thanks for the advice!!! Congrats to you!!! Looks like you are doing great!!!!

You are quite welcome.  Also, speak to your surgeon because if you do the sleeve and are not too satisfied, later on in the future you can still turn it into a bypass.  Just remember that what ever intervention you chose if you work at it and follow the rules/instructions you will be successful.

Take care,

Santos

HI, SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE HAVING NOT TO FAVORABLE ISSUES WITH YOU LAP BAND.  I WAS GOING TO GET THE BAND AT FIRST THEN I START READING ABOUT SLIPPAGE PROBLEMS AND HAVING TO CONSTANTLY GET STUCK WITH A NEEDLE, FOR FILLS.  ALSO HAVING TO PAY THE DEDUCT ABLE FOR THE ONGOING VISITS.  WHILE AT THE SAME TIME I WAS AFRAID OF THE GASTRIC BYPASS BECAUSE OF ALL THE ABSORPTION ISSUES, REROUTING OF THE INTESTINES, AND CREATING THIS POUCH.  BUT, ALSO I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE SLEEVE AS WELL AND FOUND THAT THEIR WERE NO LONG TERM RESEARCH ON THE SLEEVE.  SO I KIND OF BUCKLED DOWN AND DECIDED TO DO THE GASTRIC BYPASS DUE TO SUCCESS RATE, LONG TERM STUDIES, AND THE AMOUNT DONE NATION WIDE.  STILL AT THIS POINT I FEEL KIND OF LEARY, BUT I TRY TO STAY ENCOURAGE AND REALIZE THAT ALL SURGERIES ARE RISKY BUSINESS.  YOU JUST HAVE TO BELIEVE IN THE LORD AND LET HIM GUIDE YOU AND YOUR DECISION.  BUT I DO BELIEVE WHAT EVER DECISION YOU MAKE YOU'LL STILL FEEL UNCERTAIN AT SOME POINT LIKE ALL OF US DO, IT'S JUST HUMAN NATURE.  BUT I WILL BE HERE WITH YOU IF YOU NEED ME.  MY SURGERY WENT WELL NO COMPLICATIONS THUS FAR.  MY HANGUP WITH MY SURGERY WAS THE AMOUNT OF PAIN I WAS IN AFTER THE SURGERY AND MY SURGEON DIDN'T HAVE THAT WELL MANAGED, NOR DID I KNOW ABOUT THE WOUND PACKING TO MY BELLY AFTER WARDS WHICH REALLY SENT ME INTO A FRENZY.  ALTHOUGH I AM A NURSE AND KNOW WOUND PACKING I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT TO HAPPEN.
