Well, I'm 17 years old and I have less than a month left until I have to decide whether I should go through with the weight-loss surgery. I just need someone who has gone through, or is going to go through with any kind of surgery. My doctor told me I have only a small window of time where I will be able to get the operation done, which is between my 18th and 19th birthday. I would greatly appreciate any responses. (:

hey baby doll, im not in the exact same boat as you but i say,  if you think you need to do this for yourself and you have a good support system  dont delay,  just do it.  the longer you wait, the olde you get, the harder it is to lose wieght and the more your body falls apart.

Hey sweetie =) I'm 21 years old and am having RNY Gastric Bypass on June 20!! Everyone's case is different so nobody but your surgeon and doctors can tell you if or when you should have it done. My close friend had it done when she was 18 and she thinks it's the best thing she has done for herself. The main thing you have to consider is, you're only 17 years old and you will have to live with whatever operation you get, for the rest of your life. Never go into a surgery thinking about "Well I can get it changed if I want"...you should go into each one thinking "can I live with this for the rest of my life?". I am very nervous about the surgery(completely normal) even though I have done hours and hours, days and days, and months and months of research. You should definitely take your time to do all the research you can. You do not want to get a surgery and then think afterward if it was the right one for you. You want to know the pros, cons, and possible complications of each surgery being done. For me, my BMI, weight, perfect health(besides morbid obesity), and age, my surgeons, doctors, and I decided that RNY Gastric Bypass would be the best option for my specific case. Also, the younger you are, the less chance of any complication you have, plus you have a huge chance of minimal extra skin afterwards. I already have my exercise program in place so I can build my muscle in order to tighten up the skin. I wish you the best of luck and I am always here to talk if you need it.
P.S. Remember that only YOU can know what you're capable of!

With Love,
Jessica

Well I'm a mother of a 17 yr old daughter. My daughter was my motivator if you only have a small window to have the surgery  "go with it " it will change your life not only that you will feel much better!
