Lookin for a sleeve penpal in Dallas Metrolplex
Awesome! Where are you having your procedure? I am at Forest Medical @ Central and Forest. Do you like your doc? Facility? Are you staying one or two nights? Great, now we have someone to bounce off things too. I am excited. I had my pre-op today. That was the "easy part". Are you on a pre-op diet. I have been on one and had a few slips up but doing ok. I have lost only 5 lbs since my last visit with doc. I am focused on it this week for sure -- 9 days to go should make a great difference if I obey. Its hard though - my preop is mostly high protein and very little carbs. They wanted me on it for 14 days but its rough. I never had so much protein in all my life!!!! The protein certainly fills you up though. I am getting a bit nervous too. I have two young kids and not sure how the recouping period will go. I have been separated from my hubby for almost 1 1/2 year now, the divorce will hopefully be final soon - so I am treating myself and doing this for many reasons......looking forward to hearing from you , I will try and post my pic and upload it today -- it just makes me nervous putting myself out there -- but now that I have a penpal -- all the better ........

I have 3 kids, and they're betweeen 12-16. They live with their father about 6 hours south of Dallas. I moved back to Dallas when we seperated. The kids didn't want to change school. All of my friends and family live in the Dallas area, so this is where I moved. Woah-we have a lot in common. I am divorced now. We've been seperated since Sept. 09. I've wanted to have this surgery for a long time, but it really didn't hit me until I tried out the dating scene, and no decent guys like fat girls. :( I am doing this for me, but it sure will be nice to be attractive to others again.
I wouldn't worry about posting a picture!! The one you have up now, looks like you're very thin already!! No fair!! Can I ask how much you have to lose? I am shooting for 100-120. My doc thinks I'm crazy for setting a goal like that, but I think I can do it. I am going to have follow-up surgery to remove loose skin from my abdomen and a breast augmentation, as soon as I am a steady weight.
I look forward to hearing back from you! :)
Lisa
Yea, I posted a pic -- but I was a good 65lbs smaller then I think. and not yet thinking we were divorcing.....AHHH! I hung in there this past year a half for my kids sake -- while he has conveniently lived with his mother stringing me along giving me false hope. Ahhhhh was I fool -- I am sure he is still cheating!~!!!
The one thing my girlfriend told me -- was to visit this site - and that the surgery was the best thing she ever did after marrying her hubby! That is some pretty strong language. And then my hairdresser sis-in-law had it and she had a great experience with the sleeve also. I did not want to bypass -- because that re-routes things, and the lapband was putting something foreign into your body and you have to keep going back to doc for tightening etc. This made the most sense. I have been up and down 50 lbs my entire life -- and I am sick of the yo yo
Like you I want a brow lift and breast lift or something after this -- If I am going to every remarry and have another life -- I got to look my best -- and no one is going to want me the way I am now -- plus, I firmly believe cancer and all that disease is related to what we eat -- so a lifestyle change has to start now. The one thing good about the sleeve -- you have that piece of cake - you will however, only want one piece though - and it will be up to us to make sure we use that small amount we can eat to be the most nutritious thing for our bodies. I dont want to be malnurished........How do you like your doc? Are you self paying or going through insurance? My doc says the self-pays *(like me) go through Forest medical.....
Preop today was a breeze -- an ekg which took 60 seconds, and some blood work. What are you having to go through?
So glad we found one another -- it makes it so much better being able to have someone to bounce things off of.........who has time to read blogs all night long!!!! :o)
Hope the protein drink dinner is awesome....
I am having some grilled scallops...I have already had 50g of protein today.......and once a day I can have a lean meat of some sort -- high in protein....
Talk to you soon,
Kelley
Hi again, Kelley! Sorry I misspelled that before! :( I'll be arriving at 11:30 and in the OR at 1:30. My ex and my kids do not know I am having it done. I cannot wait to see the look on their face when I pick up the kids this summer. Woo hoo!
I just had my first visit to this doc about 2 weeks ago. I have been through all of the pre-work previously, and didn't end up having it, so he isn't sending me through all of the testing. I only have to do blood tomorrow, and see him once more before the surgery. I hope he doesn't yell at me for not being on the diet sooner. I just scheduled it last week, so I waited until the end of the weekend to start. Had to get one last hoorah in first! lol
Who is your doctor? Mine is Frenzel. He is quite awesome. :)Cute too! My diet is just restricted to no caffeine, no carbonation and 800 calories a day. I can eat that at breakfast. lol That' s so sad!
I hope to hear from you soon. Going to force my protein shake in and go for a walk. :)
Lisa
Talk about woo -hoo -- Yea, I am going to blow the socks off my ex and kids too. As just the other day, my son said I had a baby in my tummy. That was enough for me to get depressed about.
You and I are in the same about --"our secret"! The less my ex knows the better. And after healing is complete -- I am going for the brow lift -- I just need to find a good surgeon.
Its time to put me first -- my ex has been putting himself first our entire marriage.
Wow, that diet sounds radical - 800 calories a day. Mine says 1200 (with that said -- he wants us to take in 5 "high protein" slim fast, a lean protein meat, and some veggies. And I think no caffeine -- so I have laid off of that.
Just today at preop they were telling me no ibuprofen for two weeks and just the other day i had one -- so I hope that will be an issue-- Yea, 800 calories -- girlfriend, I can eat that in one setting -- so I am with ya.
How was your walk? My 5 year old had tball tonight-- so I took a protein shot and that was dinner......You have got to try these -- they are called "super whey protein shot" -- I bought mine at walmart. They have one carb and 26g of protein.
Your doc said nothing about mega dosing on protein? Supposedly, loss of protein, magnesium and zinc is what makes your hair fall out -- so I am mega mega dosing on the vitamins to prevent that from happening. I have loss enough (seriously) from the divorce issues.
I think stop eating after 6pm really makes a difference too.
You hang in there -- drink your water. I read something today form the forest medial that said you need to to be taking in 64 ounces of water prior to surgery. You will get a pamphlet from them about the ordeal as well.
Ahhhhh its bed time for my kiddos -- so reading I shall go -- the late nights are the worst for eating.......munchies are my weakness. Hang tough.
We need to come up with a strategy for how we will be able to talk to together next Tuesday. AT the very least -- they say we need to be up every 2 hours to walk -- so I will be coming by your room to pick you up~!!!! LOL
Talk to you soon,
Kelley
Hey there!
Sorry it took so long to write back. When I got back in, I showered and settled into a sappy movie! I have no idea why I torture myself like that.
As for the IBU-I think you'll be just fine. Any medication like ibuprophen, aleve, naproxen, advil...they all thin your blood. They don't want you to bleed too much during surgery, or after, so you would be better to take tylenol, if you need something. But if you took one a few days ago, I think you'll be fine. Same thing with alcohol....I had to say by to my grey goose. lol Oh the horror!
I'm sure we'll be close together in the hospital after the surgery...so please do come and get me! I'd love that! I can give you my cell phone number, and we can text and chat over the next week-and beyond! I wouldn't mind doing that at all.
I am taking my multi-vitamin, b-12, and protein all this week. So, this hair loss thing--I got this! If I start losing hair, I'll cry. That's the one good thing I have to show off! lol My best friend is my hair dresser, so he will certainly help me keep it healthy too. I'm going to look into that shot thing you got at walmart. I'd love to shoot one down, so that I don't have to drink those agonizing shakes. I got some good stuff at GNC this morning, but taking a shot of protein, I assume you mean like a liquor shot, would be so much better. Down the hatch! :)
I hope to talk soon! :) Tomorrow is a week! YAY!
How are you doing today?
You are a brave sole for watching a sappy movie last night -- if I stay to close to tv for too long that subliminal messaging makes me get hungry!!!!
Can you believe we are a week off.
Do you have family coming to stay with you -- drop you etc -- Where do you live?
Right now, I am considering dropping myself -- can you believe it -- I hope they have lockers for my purse....as you have to come in with ID. I may have my sitter come - -but she is not an early bird and I am worried about her coming in my car -- that worries me -- as she drives this beat up car that does not fit a car seat - so when she leaves to drop my 2 year old with ex, she will have to take my vehicle.
IF I put my stuff in a locker will I feel like getting out of bed to get it --
I am getting nervous thinking about the logistics.
I just got a new multiple vitamin at sprouts -- so I am on top of that today. AFter just eating nothing but protein today, I didn't lose a lb yeseterday -- that urks me.
Here;s the link to the shot thing at walmart -- yes, its a shot.....
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Fortress-Super-Whey-Protein-S hot-Fruit-Punch-Supplement-17.4-oz/13274526
And there is this drink at sprouts called "pure protein" -- it has 35 grams of protein and 4 carbs. And it really fills you up!
Tell me how you day is going.....Do you work during the day/stay at home?
Kelley
Hey girlie!
Today was SO busy! I went to the hospital for my pre-op stuff. They drew blood, did an EKG, and a chest X-ray. I also signed all my releases for the surgery. The only vein they could get was on my wrist bone. I know there's a technical term for it, but I don't know it. It still hurts like heck. I'm ready to go. I see my surgeon tomorrow afternoon--rather this afternoon! It's morning! I spent the night at my friends house, watching movies. That storm was something, huh?
Oh my GOSH!!! We are 6 days away! How very exciting! I am so anxious, it isn't even funny! I've waited so long for this day!
I can't believe you don't have someone coming with you! That's just awful!!! :( There's nobody close that will come and support you?
As for me, I am off work for 6 weeks. I am a corporate trainer at a financial planning firm. So, for now, I am at home, and really enjoying the down time! I usually travel about 90 percent of the time, so this down time is sure refreshing! I live in Fort Worth, so its a good drive over, but it is much less expensive over at that hospital. What about you? What do you do?
I can't wait to chat!
Lisa
