Hi I am 54, will be 55 in may. I had the lapband surgery in Dec. /09. I started out at 204 and am down to 160 now. I would like to get down to 135 but my doctor has set my goal at 150, so anything past that will be gravy. I have 3 children and three grand-children, all of whom live close by and are a blessing to us. I live in canada. I too would like to have a lap band friend. Hope to hear from you. Tah tah

Hi! My name is Brenda and I am 52.  I had Lapband surgery in August of 09 and have only lost 46lbs. I am my own worse enemy though as I love sweets and particularly chocolate, which will melt in your mouth. I had my surgery with Journeylite because of the free unlimited refills for life.  Just my luck, they went out of business in my city, but my surgeon is honoring the free refills.  His office is very far from my home and not convenient.  He does not have support meetings, but his office turned me on to one that I could phone in to and I did last Thursday.  They led me here!

I had a fill last Wed. to 8.2 cc's on a 10 cc Lapband.  I am 3 days in to this latest fill, but ate some almonds on day 2, which I know was  a mistake.  I now feel as though I have a lump in my chest.  I can swallow a little water, but am scared to try anything else.

I woke up this morning feeling fine, but a a few sips of coffee and went back to feeling as bad as I did last night.  I don't know if I should try aanything else or just put nothing in my mouth at all.

Any suggstions?

Thanks a million!

Hi Brenda, sorry to hear you are not feeling so well, been there too, and I usually jump around , or drink something hot, to help it go down . Sometimes nothing works and I just have to wait for it to move on down on its own. Where are you from-am from New Brunswick. Canada
I havent lost anything for quite some time, actually put on some at christmas but it is back off, but I am not budging from my lowest weight. I probably need another fill. My surgery was free as are all the fills. So I quess I need to make that call . We are having a lot of snow here this year, it sure does suck. I hate the winters now. We were in Hawaii for 3 weeks in january, and am finding it difficult to adjust. It was paradise over there. would you have the lapband put in again, knowing what you know now--I am on the fence, I know it worked for me, but not as well as I had hoped, and I still have to do a lot of the work, eat well and try to stay away from sweets, which i love. I hate to exercize and havent done much of that, but I will come summer, I sort of hibernate in the house during winter months. Next year we hope to go to florida for the winter months. If I can get some bills paid off, the trip to Hawaii kinda put us back financially a little, but it was on our bucket list, so am glad we finally got to go. Do you work. I am retired as is my husband. We have 3 grown children, and 3 grandsons.  tah tah for now, feel better soon.

Hi Brenda, I am not sure if this will work or not but one of the other patients swear by PINEAPPLE JUICE for getting something stuck to go down. She says it works great. By the way I haven't had surgery yet, but Thought it was worth passing on. Sure hope you are feeling better by now.

I work 3 days a week (10-2) in the neighborhood.  I have 2 boys in high school, so it allows me to watch their sporting events in town and away.  I live near the coast of Texas, so it doesn't get too cold here.....we can have some pretty powerful summers though.  We have  a pool in the backyard, so it is manageable.

I love Hawaii!  We have been lucky enough to go several times, but not for 3 weeks!  Which island(s) were you on?

My husband works and probably will until the boys are out of college.

Do you kids and grandkids live close by?

My family all lives intown, Dad, Sister and her kids and my Inlaws.  My mom lives in the "Hill Country" in the middle of Texas, not far from Austin.  She has a place on the lake, so that is our reprieve from the city.

Do you know the size of your lapband?  I think my Dr. was disappointed and doubled up on the fill.  8.2 in a 10cc band scares me, but I guess that will keep me from eating!  I have finally been given a support Group in my area, but won't be able t go until March...bummer.

So in your experience, if I have something stuck it will eventually move on?
