Hey everyone, my name is Danielle, and I'm 26 years old. I am having Gastric Bypass surgery on January 28, 2011... I just recently announced to my family and friends (on Facebook of all places) that I will be undergoing the GBS and in just a days time I've already lost 1 friend over it because she didn't support me.

I found out about this site through my mom who is going to be having surgery the same day as me!

I'm very easy going and I love meeting new people and making friends, so if you're looking for the same, then add me as a friend and let's talk!

Don't worry about losing that friend. How can she just stop being your friend. When your doing this for your health to save your life? So since you lost that friend you have just gained one. I'll be your friend. See unlike you I haven't announced it to my family or friends. I kinda want to keep it a secret. I guess I want people to think that I did it all by myself. Am I dum for that?

She sees it as me "risking my life to get skinny".... but I don't even care about getting skinny (though it would be nice to be thin again) I care more about being healthy and being able to play with my daughter and keep up with her! I think it was really just a lot of jealousy because she said she had tried to get the lap band at one point but "wasn't fat enough" to get it done. The thing is she's been losing weight on her own and has lost over 50 pounds since last January, so I don't understand what her issue is. Because I will lose more weight? I don't know.

I don't think you're dumb for not telling friends and family and letting them think you did it on your own. That's how my mom and I were going to do it, but then we changed our minds and decided to announce it. :) Thanks for responding back to my post.
