No supportive friends! Looking for a Weight loss cyber family =D
Kimberly, I would be honored to be on your support system list of friends. I had my surgery on October 19, 2009 so its been a little over a year ago and I would not change a thing. When I started the requirements of a 6 month weight loss with a physician that my insurance company required I was at 245 and in a size 24, I am now just a little over a year after my surgery at 131 and in a size 8, you can check out my pictures on my facebook, or contact me at [email protected]. Please put in the subject line support system for weight loss so I know its you. I will be keeping you in my prayers that all goes good for your surgery, which surgery are you having, I had the gastric bypass.
thanks again oh look me up on facebook under Kimmie Roten
I am also scheduled for RNY this week. Have a spouse, friends who have gone through it. Admit that I wasn't always suppoortive over the last 10 yrs. Finding in spite of that, I have alot of support around me. I am not telling more than a handful of people. Sticking w/ the gallbladder surgery, high protein and exercise because I have watched/heard so many uneducated or jealous or just plain snarky people have alot of opinions. You/I have obviously put alot of effort and thought into making this life altering decision. You don't owe people explainations. You shouldn't expect everyone to be happy for you, nice or supportive for their own reasons. And don't overshare unless you really feel you WANT to. WLS or not, think about dieting in general, how many people have said "just one bite won't hurt". I am happy for you especially because you are so young and this is a great opportunity to make lifestyle changes and have a great and healthy life. I wish I was mentally there and had done it 10 yrs ago but I wasn't big enough. Now another 70 lbs unhealthier I am there and am grateful for those supporting me. I extend that to you. Good luck I will just be a baby step ahead of you and we can do this together!
