Girl from Cali needs a pen pal
I can't get my picture small enough to upload. How did you get yours to post? March seems so far off, but I know time flies. How much have you lost? What type of advice can you give me since my surgery is all the way in San Diego, CA, and I live in Bakersfield, CA. I was born at El Camino hospital in Mountain View so your not too far from there. I have sensitive skin and I had breast implants twice, but due to complications they are out of me for good, so I'm nervous about anymore elective surgery.
Great Q & A session. Thanks for that. I think I'll be happy at 170, but if I get to 150 that would be a miracle. I havent weighed that in 20 years. I just turned 45. My friend who had the lap band is the worst example of someone who doesnt follow the rules. She constantly barfs and now I think she has bulemia. She said "get use to projectile vomiting" and I said "no, I don't think so" She didnt have any guidance or instructions, even about taking vitamins. She's a mess. Im learning from her self abuse. Someone told me that by around the 8th year about 15 lbs will come back on. Seems like it's true. Some people have the surgery re-done!
I live in Bakersfield, we're practically neighbors. Did you have RYN? Where did you have it done? I'm going to San Diego. Im not happy about that. They want me there for 3 nights in the hospital. That seems a little long. Everyone says after a few hours Ill be up and walking around and feeling okay.
I did have the RNY. Mine was done at UCS hospital. I was able to go home the morning after my surgery. I was very sore due to the fact that I had the big cut and the laproscopic. My mother had hers done in Fresno. She was back to normal the day she left the hospital. I gained 20 pounds back since the surgery. BUT I have lost that weight again. I have even been able to lose a bit more now. I started at 373. I am now 258. You will love your new life. I used to basically live on the computer since I didn't have the energy to leave the house to much. That has changed. I work now. I did work two jobs at the same time but had to leave one. I hurt my back on the job. I am able to grocery shop now instead of sending my kids in to get what we need. We go on family trips.
What's going on with your insurance? I had to put on a 10lb weight vest under a jacket to get my bmi to 40! Ridiculous but you gotta do what ya gotta do. Everyone can't believe I'm having this surgery. They say Im not big enough, but I'm 236. Charts say I should be 128 - 150. I think that's the range. Im just not 300 lbs. and I think that is what people expect of the weight loss surgery requirements.
