Hello, I am Sara...I am 18 months post op...I go to my monthly meetings but I am someone who will sit in the back and listen more than voice my opinion...I have had a wonderful experience through the last 18 months but I feel often I am doing it alone...because people who havent had the surgery done dont quite understand things...especially my body image problems...I see the weight loss in my face and I know I have lost 131lbs...but when I look in a mirror...I do not see it anywhere but my face!
I was also just approved to have insurance pay to have my lower stomach taken off which I am super excited about but getting a little nervous!
ANYWAY....I would love to talk to anyone...pre or post op
Just people who understand what life is when involved in WLS! :)
Hope to hear from you!
Sara

Hi Sara

I willbe 18 months post op next month and am looking forward to the same surgery in june. I go to the meetings as often as my schedule allows and sometimes I feel the need to share but not always. I guess it depends on the dynamics of the group that day. I have lost 220+ lbs so far but I still have a ways to go. I seem to have fallen off the wagon and am eating like crazy..old habits..old ways.. freaking me out! I was down to 197 but have since gotten back up to 213. I dont know what to do to get my mind back in the right place. I was hoping to find someone that I could email and just spout off. I seem to be finding the same excuses I had before for working out etc...you know.. winter dark cold work etc etc etc.I love mtn biking and hiking and horseback riding but those are not really fun to do in the winter!  Have you had any motivation probelms yet? Congrats on getting the ps. Im hoping that will help with the image thing. Do you have a lot of pictres of yourself? I am taking as many as I can so I can look back and see all the changes. I try to get back into same postions, clothing, place..so I can REALLY see the differences. GOod luck to you. IF you'd like to write back and forth and be a spouting off place for each other that would be great.! Good luck to you.

Hi there,

I'm about a month behind you, had my surgery in May of last year. I have a consult with a plastics guy next week to talk about getting my arms done...that is my area that I am really self-conscious about. Of course if I could afford it I would get my boobs and stomach done too...lol....I completely understand about the body image thing. I have a pretty strong support system but they don't understand why after losing so much weight I only see what is wrong still..the loose saggy skin, etc. It is such a mind game and some days are easier to handle than others. Feel free to message me anytime; I love meeting others that are dealing with the same things I am!
