Hi, I"m 45 yrs old, in Ontario, Canada. I've just been referred, so i haven't even had an appointment with a surgeon. I'd love to talk to someone else, either at the same stage as me, or a little farther in the journey.

Hi there,
I'm 46 and I am waiting for RNY surgery (date is set for September 22 at Toronto East Hospital).  I had my referral sent in January and have completed all of my appts at Toronto West.  My surgeon appt. was in early June and I've been waiting ever since.

I don't know what hospital you are going through, but it seems Toronto West is much more efficient at putting patients through and the one I ended up with.  I know people who started the process a month after me, and had their surgery a month ago at TW.  I'm not sure why TE is so much slower, but its a little frustrating.  So, if you are in the Toronto area and going through that program, try to see a surgeon that works out of TW.

I have my pre-op appt. this coming Monday, so that is kind of exciting.  Then two weeks after that, I will be starting the Optifast.

Have you had any appts yet with the social worker/nutritionist/psychologist?  Well, it really is amazing how fast the time does go, and even though I still have another month to wait, it isn't all that bad compared to how things were a couple years ago where people had to wait years.

Good luck with your journey, and if you want a pal, please write. I'm 46 and live up near Port Hope, east of Toronto.
