I have a surgery date of May 7th in Pedra Negras , Mexico with Dr Alverez. I am looking for a penpal that has been there or is going to Dr. G. Alvarez.
I have done tons of research and I can't find a downside to going to Mexico. Please share ANY expereinces with Dr. Alverez, good and bad.
I am excited but scared a little and I find information is the best way to take care of fear and doubts. If you are totally informed good & bad.......your fear or lack of it is justified.
I live in Kentucky and winter in Cape Coral, Fl. Please share!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I have to do a 10 day, it looks HARD, but my husband is going to do with me. Hopefully I will be very buzy at work and the rest of the time I will try to sllep alot ot keep me from wanting to eat.
I read somewhere how great Dr A is and that "he answered his own emails" so I put that to the test a couple of weeks agon on a Sunday. I was bowled away, he answered my eamil with an hour. He said he does answer all his emails and he enjoys it. I told him my fears of going out of the country for surgery and he spent the time to reassue me of the safety through several emails that day.
His bedside manner shows through even in email. My name is Mary by the way, and from looking at your picture I am certaintly old enough to be your mother (and maybe grand-ma). I can keep you informed on how the pre op diet goes after I start on the 27th if you like.

Started liquid diet yeaterday 4-27. The first day was nto as bad as I though it was going to be. I do have a headache today form doing without the mountain of caffenie I usually have in the form of strong-dark coffee. I hope that will subside quickly. Strangly I am not nervouse about the surgery, jus very anxious to get it over with.
Hello Mary, my name is Reba. I'm new here, & just learning things about the surgeries. How did yours go? Did you have any problems in Mexico? I would be freaked out because I've never got on a plane in my life! ! I'm 48yrs. old. I know that's pretty strange. I'm 5ft. tall & weigh 205lbs. So I'm almost as wide as i am tall:# Please , if you don't mind, I'd love for you to share you experience with me. Tell me every scary thing you experienced cause if I choose to do this, I want NO SURPRISES..... Since I'm new It'll be a while before this msg shows up 'cause the monitor has to approve it. So I hope by the time you get it you're well on your way to recovery & quickly becoming a success story....Best wishes,
I'm happy to be a pen pal. I live in NY and just recently went to Mexicali, Mexico to have the gastric sleeve by Dr. Aceves, not Dr. Alvarez. I was originally going to see Dr. Alvarez until I joined the site and was steered away from him. I'm happy to share the details if you'd like. Read my bio and if you're interested let me know. I had a phenomenal experience that I'd love to share. I am 15 days post-op.
