In need of support from the older generation in their 50's and 60's

How do you begin an intimate relationship  with loose skin everywhere?  I'm 57 and scared to accept a date from any old friends....let alone new ones. I feel so old!  Any input would be nice. Thanks!

Fran,

I really don't notice any loose skin.

I'm older than you (I'm older than anyone) and I am just starting the process.  I don't even know what I kind of surgery I want, so don't go scaring the really "old" ladies.

I'm going to suggest you stop using the word, date, it's (forgive me) old and comes with all sorts of sexual overtones.  Perhaps you could "get together" or "have lunch" or "see a movie" with old friends. (I also find a darkened movie theater to be the perfect accessory to any outfit that shows skin.)

Think about what you wrote.  You should not be scared of old friends.  They will be so proud of your weight loss, they won't notice loose skin.

The older I get the more laughter I crave.  Find the people and places that make you laugh, you may not find anyone to date but you will have fun in the meantime.

Old?  Old?  You don't know what old is!  hah!  As my 95 year old Mother used to say..."Old age ain't for sissies!
I just had a lap band done on March 18th of 2010.  And..........I am 68 years old!  Top that one, kid!  hah!  I even have children older that you!
Everything is cool and I have lost over 36lbs in 5 weeks...so far.  I had a fill last week and it was no big deal.
I am now eating buffalo wings (just 2 at a time) that are so hot, that I think they should be declared "radioactive".     I love my rye water crackers with low cal creme cheese, capers, Lox and red onion on top.
My starting weight was 350 and I was falling apart.  Knees, feet, back were all in pain.  I had sleep apnea, too.  It is now 5 weeks after my 30 minute lap band surgery and a brief overnight stay in the hospital and and I was "good to go"!  Popsicles/yogurt/soup/broth/Jell-O for a week and then boiled eggs, etc.
I now have limited back pain, no knee or foot problems and I have stopped using my CPAP machine for sleep apnea.  I can even walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded!  My blood pressure is dropping and I suspect that the Doc will reduce my meds soon.
Loose skin?  Naw...just exercise.  I have been using a friends Wii Fit Plus and it works wonders.  In fact, I just ordered a new one from amazon.com.  I can do Tai Chi, downhill skiing, volley ball dodge and a bazillion other e-x-e-r-c-i-s-e challenges.
I would be thrilled if you would be my pen pal, e-mail confidant, Instant Messager good guy, etc.  I am in the computer biz, so I am even fully equipped for video conferencing.    Let me know if you are interested.  -Doug, "the Leader of his Band"
