Wanted: Pre-Surgery Penpals for Support
Howdy from South Texas ! I am looking for penpals and epals who haven't had their surgery yet. We can be each other's support as wr are going trhought he same thing. I am 5ft., 7in. tall, female, and my current weight is 366 lbs. I have to lose 20 more before medicare will help payf or my surgery. I am a Type II Diabetic and also have an underactive thyroid gland which makes it hard for me to lose weight.

I am also pre-surgery and I've just started the process. i've had the psych eval and met with my PCP. My NUT appt is 1/21. It seems I'm getting a little run around from the docs office in dealing with my insurance but I hope that its resolved soon. I'm 5'8" 248 but I have hpb and slight hypothyroidism. My insurance did not specify if I had to wait 3 or 6 months, but my doc thinks I should go for 3 but the insurance said it's up to my doc. I want to have the surgery before March but for now I'm still waiting. I want to do the gastric sleeve as I think this is best for me. Good Luck,

Good luck to the both of you. You will do awesome! Yes it does seem as if everyone gets the run around at first but stick with it and don't let off and you will make it through it all. I haven't yet had surgery myself but my BIG day is Jan. 18th. I am excited and scared but ready for a new beginning in life. I am currently 377 but started my journey 7 months ago. But my highest weight was 428. I am 5'10" and 29 years old. This is a awesome site to find support and meet new people that understand what you are going through.

Kudos to all of us for deciding to make a change. I finally got my chosen docs office to concede on the 3 month monitored weight issue since my insurance doesn't require it. My consulation is on 1/20...and I'm excited. Good Luck Teresa and keep us posted on your progress and share any and all information that you can.

I am just starting what my hospital calls "the pathway" and I am looking at having surgery in about 6 months. I am super excited to get the sleeve. I am 21 5'5 263 lbs. My husband is in army so my surgery has already been approved because I met the 100 pounds overweight rule they use to qualify. I am in desperate need of support as only my husband and a very few friends support my decision, my parents flat out told me to stop being lazy and stop shoving my face. Man I wish they could understand. Everyone here seems so nice and understanding! id love some epals. YAY for everyone taking charge of their life and being brave enough to make this journey!!

wow was getting kind of worried myself lol. I just joined yesterday. I am in search of new friends myself and pen pals I suppose meaning same thing. I am 5 ft 6 351 pounds. I am grateful I do not have diabetes but it does run in family. I do how every suffer the normal pains in knees back neck legs hips. I have three lung disease's I quit smoking August 23 2009 I have three kids. 2 girls one boy The oldest boy is 25 the oldest girl is 24 they are 11 months apart and my youngest is my baby girl who just turned five yesterday. I see my Dr March 9Th he then will have me see his dietitian and set up the appointment for the gastric bypass. I am already seeing a regular dietitian now but the other one is for the protein and such.
My weight has gotten so bad that my primary gives me five years if I do not get this surgery done. I to am on medicaid was told by my primary that it will be covered we shall see lol. Just in case I am saving some and putting it aside.
Would be great to become friends and support each other through our journeys feel free to add me. Name is June
