I would love a pen pal
Hello! Happy New Years… My name is Giselle, I am 39, and I reside in Duarte, California. I had my RNY on 11/25/09. I am looking to make friends, and find a pen pal as well, someone to discuss our WLS, and exchange ideas, motivation, everything that this journey has to offer, etc.
A bit about me; I am single, I have no children. I am employed with AT&T, and currently pursuing my Postgraduate eduaction.I enjoy listening to all genres of music, movies, and TV series e.g. The Biggest Loser, Big Medicine anything educational, as well as edgy.
Best Regards,
Giselle
Hi Giselle hope the new year is treating you well. I have been happily married 42 years to my best friend. I have a son and daughter and four wonderful grandchildren. ObesityHelp has been so helpful for me. I hope to lose about 100 pounds. How are you doing with your diet? I am keeping a food journal but worry I am not eating the right amounts foods to maintain my calorie intake. I drink my protien shakes for the needed amount of protien and that doen't leave me many calories left for the eating. Do you have any problems with this? I work as a CNA and enjoy music, reading, traveling and anything on TV that isn't Si-Fi. My motavation for today is:
"For the footsteps imbedded in ground of my new path will become the solid foundation of my future. " I hope to hear from you soon. Best Regards, Billie

Hi Billie, I'm so sorry for the delay. January is so busy for me. You have such as wonderful family, I'm sure they are all supportive of your decision to undergo WLS. That's wonderful. I would like to lose 100 pounds as well. I put on the weight in 98 after my father was in a auto accident that caused all sorts of complications and he ending up wheelchair bound, my mom emotionally withdrew (I'm an only child) and I became sole everything, and an emotional eater (he passes away in 2003) . I tried several different and expensive programs, spent 7 years on a UCLA program that brought results through a combo of liquid and modied diets; however, once stress kicked in weight went back up. I decided to look into WLS surgery last January and then all signs were "go" when I found a surgeon who literally saved my dad's life in 98, he (Dr. LaMar) is a Bariatric and general surgeon now. So he was my surgeon.
I keep a food journal as well, at this time mostly to make sure I consume all my 80- 90 grams of Protein. My doctor has a specified Nutritional plan that takes me through various (actually 5 Phases) I just started Phase 5 on Friday, it consists of either having 2 oz of Protein, Water (or substitute) and Solid Food - this is my first attempt at incorporating solids. These 2 oz are taken every 30 minutes. He doesn't have me counting calories just liquid oz. I'm doing OK, I was experiencing some hotheadedness last week, but I was told by his nurse that I need to take in the required 64 oz a day no less. Did better this weekend.
I am 39, divorced, I have no children. I work for AT&T (17 years) as an Engineering Cost Associate, I handle all Engineering budgeting and Accounting bills/ issues. I am also pursuing my Doctorate. My dream is to transition into a Federal Administrative position in the future, preferably Homeland Security/ Immigration & Citizenship Services.
What is your nutritional plan like, were you given guidelines to follow?
You can email me directly if you like, my email address is [email protected]
