Good Morning all,
I had gastric bypass in April of 2008 down in Eugene, Oregon.  I accepted a job offer in Portland last fall and made the big move.  While I'm sticking to my exercise and diet, I'm stuck at some sort of plateau and would love someone to share their advise on overcoming this hurdle.  Since moving to Portland, I haven't share my bypass secret with co-workers or anyone for fear of being judged.  Just hearing comments from people in general - thinking that the surgery was the easy way out .  Saying things like 'Why diet, when you can go get your stomach stapled and not have to worry about what you eat'.  Sheesh!!!

Hi there. I am from Portland and had my surgery back in January of this year. You are further out then me but we could probably help each other out. Do you go to support group meetings?  If not you are more then welcome to come to the one I go to. I had my surgery at the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital here in Portland. We hold a monthly support group meeting the last Wednesday of each month. Next one is the 24th.

I am just days shy of being 5 months post op and have hit a few plateaus myself. I know they are bound to happen so I try not to get to discouraged as I know they are temporary. Mine usually last about a week then fade away and the scale will start moving again. I generally like to look back at the week and look for areas where i might have lacked in one place or over compensated in another. I got sick early on and found out that it was because I broke into my old habit of drinking soda, granted it was diet soda but it still made me sick. Do you journal? Journaling your food really helps to find areas that might be causing issues.

Well let me know if I can be of further assistance.
