Just getting Started
I am very scared at the thought of having surgery in the first place but am ready for a new me! I was looking at being banded but I am leaning more towards RNY now. I am 33 and live in Southern Illinois. My husband and I have been married almost 6 years and would like to have children before we are 50. I need to lose about 190 pounds. I would like to have a pal or two that is going through the same kind of things that I am. You can contact me here or write me at my address:

I was also scared of having surgery but my RYN surgery was 6/30 of last year and I have lost 135 lbs as of today. I was lets say over 50 when I had mine and my only regret is I wish I had been able to do this years ago.You lose much faster with RYN but the diet is a bit more restrictive which is ok with me.I have not had any problems.I have my 1 year check up the end of this month. How far are you into the process??Hope you work though your reservations and good luck to you which ever you decide.

WOW congrats on your loss sadie7577!! :) I am not very far into the process. I have the list of things that that hospital requires and I have went to 2 informational seminars. I am waiting for a letter from my dr on my need for the surgery. I know that my insurance doesn't cover the surgery but I have to wait for a denial letter before I can appeal the decision. :( I hate that I have to jump through all of these hoops but I will do whatever I can. My dr is behind me 110% and is actually the one that has steered me toward the surgery. It is going to be a fight but I am tough! LOL >:)
