Hi,
I had my procedure a week ago and have lost 15 lbs. Then again we don't know if we really had it. I think it helps not knowing to keep you accountable for what you eat... The fear of stretching your staples, makes you follow.... Let me know any other info you want to know...

Hello,
For those who don't know what toga is, TOGA stands for trans oral gastroplasty. Basically the make your stomach smaller, no incisions at all! They use a scope tru your mouth. It is a study being conducted in several states. It is supposed to be a double blinded study, the surgeon does not who gets it until the patient is in the OR; you will not know weather or not you actually had it done until a year later.
I was part of the study here in NY, I also lost about 16 pounds. However I have to say it became very clear I did not get it done. I had my procedure done in Dec. I have been able to keep the weight off and now I am in the process of having the gastric by pass. Eating 2 oz of food when your stomach is intact it hard to do! I needed it to try it, I am glad I did. It really help me understand more or less what I will be going tru i terms of eating, cooking for the family while being restricted. I survived a lil more than 3 months!!! Wish you ladies lots of luck on your journey!
If you have any more questions let me know

Hi,
I'm not sure if I had it either but I can tell you, I have horrible reflux. Last night was brutal.. I still feel like I have something caught in my throat and it won't go down and yet haven't had anything today. At first I thought there was no way I had the suregery because I can drink almost 8oz of an energy drink in a half hour, but now with all the throat issues and smoach pain, I think I may have had it. I also feel a tightening sometimes in my chest, where my stomach is. If I didn't have it, I will follow the plan for as long as I can and try to get the procedure in a year... I am hoping though, if I didn't have it, that I lose enough weight thinking I did....

I am scheduled for my surgery on March 25th. I keep doing visualizations of me smaller, I currently weigh 230 and should be closer to 125. I will be happy at 150. Lighter is healthier. I pray I get the treatment. The doctor told me that out of 4 surgeries one of us will be toga free. I pray I am one of those 3.
Anything I should be cautious about before going in?

I am now 2 weeks out from my TOGA procedure. I have lost 19 pounds so far. I thought I got it at first because of the throat pain and the feeling of having a knot stuck in my throat. And my stomach felt achy. And I almost barfed on the second or third day because I drank to much to quick. But it could have just been from the nausia. I dont know really. How do you guys feel after this? We can compair notes and try to figure out if we really got it or not. When I was at the swallow test the day after, to check for leaks. There was 2 other people there too. We were waiting together for a few minutes. First this one lady was there. I asked her if she was there for the TOGA and she said yes. She asked me how I felt and I said my throat hurt more than anything, and she said her too. And both our stomachs also felt achy. Then they took her back to her room. Then a man got wheeled by me. i didnt talk to him, but he was talking on the phone and I could hear him since he was right next to me. He said that he felt fine, and that it was probably because he was loaded up on pain meds. But I was on them too, and I didnt feel fine. So I dont know if he could just tollerate it better than me, or if he didnt get it and I did. or what? I wish I knew. This is driving me nuts.
Hi guys! I just had surgery on Monday the 23rd and am just starting to feel better. It really put me down for a few days. It was frustrating because the lady in the bed next to me jumped up on the first day and was ready to go. I just wanted to sleep through it. I wish I could say that I could tell right away if I had it or not, but I can't. And it's driving me nuts!! If there is anyone out there who has gone through it and can give me advice, I'd gladly take it. On day 4, I still feel like I have something stuck in my throat and get a twinge in my stomach but I can drink all day long no problem. So I still wonder. Anyone know what is supposed to happen if you drink too much?? Well, glad I found you! And, if I can help anyone, just let me know!
