Would love a pen pal...or email pal ( I guess. lol)
Hi there...I had RNY on December 9th of 2008 in Michigan. I am 32 years, old, married, and a mother to three beautiful children. I would love to have an email pal to converse with about the ups and down of surgery, and life in general. Message me if you are wanting the same thing. Looking forward to hearing from you! :)
Yes they do keep me busy. I take care of them while their parents are working. The only one I don't have yet is 5 weeks old. I am very lucky to be able to be retired at such an early time of life. I get to see and love each one of the babies almost every day.
I am very excited about the surgery. I know there will be a lot of learning that goes with it. I am thankful that there is OH to read the dos and don'ts, as well as the advise of those who have been through it.
So how are you doing? Did your surgery go as planed?.....

5 weeks old? Wow, so tiny...I absolutely love babies...I would have twenty more if only my husband wanted them lol.
My surgery did go as planned, I had an amazing experience, my surgery was said to be a text book case. I love my surgeon, he is the best. So nice, and friendly, which helped a lot. I am just over 7 weeks post op, and have had no problems yet. I am doing well. Not at all as hard as I thought it was going to be...don't get me wrong, I have my days, but I do not regret this decision at all. You are right, everyone here at OH is such a huge help. and so supportive, and full of information. You will enjoy speaking with all of them.

Hi there,
My name is Adrienne and I am hoping to have RNY surgery in March. I am just about ready to send everything to the insurance for approval.
I really need this for myself.
I have been married for almost 7 years and I have 2 small children. I am 30 years old.
I have tons and tons of things I'd like to talk and gab about regarding surgery.
How long were you unable to do the day to day things and take care of your children?
What have you been eating since surgery?

Hello.
I think it was about a week ( maybe not even) before I could do the day to day chores of motherhood, and wifedom. lol. I did the laundry, and cleaned the house, but it just took longer than it normally would. I was very tired, and even 8 weeks post -op, I still get tired quickly. I think it is because of the lack of food, that I get tired. I didn't lift the laundry basket, or my children, as I was told not too. I would drag the basket from room to room, if needed. My sister came over one day and cleaned my house for me, but that is all the help I got from family or friends. My husband would do the odd little thing, but he isn't much of a help... :) He means well, but just doesn't do it the way I do it, so I end up redoing it anyways.
I had my surgery in December, and I feel great. Yes, I get tired, and yes, sometimes I feel nauseated( only for a short amount of time). I still get hungry, I was told I wouldn't be, but I am. I eat lot's of cheese..cottage cheese, and regular cheese...it's a good way for me to get my protein in. I like the protein drinks, so that is a bonus for me, as many don't tolerate them well. I can basically eat anything I want. No problems yet...I just can't eat a lot of something. But I have tried almost everything, with no problems. Except for sugar, I have not had that, and won't be either...there are many sugar free things I can have instead.
Good luck on your surgery, would love to hear more about you, and answer any other questions you may have...I am a newbie, so I may not have all the answers, but I can try. lol

Hello!
Yes, I had a RNY surgery in Ypsilanti, Michigan 3 months ago. The surgeon, Dr. Poplowski did the operation and all went well. I've to date lost 40 lbs and feel very well.
This whole business of eating is a very new way of doing things.
I cannot seem to tolerate so far, chicken for some odd reason and some other food items, but actually am doing very well with many foods. Living in Hamilton, Ontario and would love to find some WLsupport group that is closer to Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Have not yet gone to any WLSupport group as of yet,. The one in Hamilton, meet on Sunday's and that is not a day I have much time, as I go to Church on that day. I'm actually looking for a group that meet through the weekday or weeknight. If anyone knows of a support group WL, in Burlington, please let me know. That would be much appreciated.
Yes, I do get a little tired at times and usually have a little nap in the afternoon. I'm 56 years of age and have been married 29 years. Our two grown son's are now not living with us,. One is married with our grandson who is going to be 9 years of age. And our youngest son lives on his own and works very close to his job. We get together often,.
There is so much more to share and that is actually what I'm looking for too. Someone who will correspond with me on this new journey of weight loss.
I'd appreciate anyone writing who would be interested as well.
Thank you
Bonbons

You sound like you are doing quite well. Good for you! I am doing well with my weight loss, and eating...so far nothing has bothered me..I can eat anything.
I go to the wlg in Owen Sound, but that's not close enough to Burlington for you...but we do meet on Wednesday evenings, so that is nice. Breaks up the week a bit.
