Hi Everyone, My name is Joelle and I live in the great state of New Jersey (not really so great - don't get me started).  I have been married for almost 29 years and I have two grown children - a son, age 25; and a daughter, age 22.  They both still live at home.   I have three dogs - Jesse is a 4-year-old golden retriever/yellow lab mix; Loucious is a 7-year-old fawn pug; and Daisy is a 3-year-old black pug.   I just love them all.  They are all so special to us.  We adopted Jesse from the North Shore Animal Leage (a no-kill shelter) and the pugs were both in homes where they were no longer wanted.  We are so lucky to have them in our lives.  The love they show us every day is amazing.  It's like they know we gave them a second chance. I work in the Athletic Department at Rutgers University (remember the Don Imus thing last year).  I have a clerical job, where I sit at a desk all day and dream about being anywhere else but here.  The people here are pretty nice and we have fun most of the time, but it can be boring too.   We get free tickets for all the athletic events, so that's pretty cool.  It's nice to read everyone's story.   Take care.

Hi everyone, my name is Amy, I am 53 and have been married 34 yrs to my wonderful husband. We have 3 grown children and 6 granchildren ages 3-13. We also have 3 fur babies, a 7yr old spitz and 2 chihuahuas ages 4 & 2.  The 2 yr old is a tree climber and has finally figured out how to get down from the tree. We were having to climb up the tree to get him out of it at first.  We live in deep South Texas close to the Gulf coast. I love the coast. My husband is retired military and we spent a total of about 10 yrs in Germany.  After being MO for most of my married life, I finally decided to look into WLS and here I am now, a lot healthier with an abundance of energy. I love my new life. I like to read, sew, and do all kinds of crafts. I don't get to see my grandkids that much because they all live 250-300 miles away. We are thinking of moving closer to them soon though. Hope we can get together again soon. Amy

Hie everyone!  I'm getting a late jump on this.  I LOVE OT subjects.  Sometimes I just need to get away from talking about food.  So, let me tell you about me.  I live in LIttle Rock, AR--which is 9 hours of hard driving to the nearest beach   Don't think we let that stop us!  I am married (16 years--I think) with 2 boys and a standard poodle.  I love to play golf, run (now that I can again), listen to music, go to the lake, read, cook, and I am REALLY good at sitting around doing nothing.  It's nice to meet you all. Hi Lyndee, thanks for posting this thread.  It is always nice to meet others. I am Robyn, 33, and live in West Carrollton, OH.  About 45 minutes north of Cincy, and 15 minutes south of Dayton.  I like to call it the armpit of America.  I grew up in Lexington, KY, went to college in Morehead, KY, and in the past 10 years have lived in Springfield, MA, and Virginia Beach, VA.  Have lived here for going on eight years now.  Have a loving husband of 12 years, and two children who are short, furry and speech impaired.  And yes, they are my dogs.  Oscar is our pound pup and Emmy is our stray rescue, and I couldn't imagine a day without them.  I could go on and on about them, but won't bore you.   I work as a Group Leader in the Insurance Dept of a top ten mortgage company, and have been there for over seven years now.  I have great friends at work, and love the everyday challenges of my job.  Not loving so much the shaky economy that has such an impact on my employment.  We just take it day by day and hope and pray for the best. In 1998, a friend of mine had gastric bypass and had complications which led to his unfortunate passing.  WLS was always in the back of my mind, but his death kept pushing those thoughts aside.  I have now come to the point in my life, where if I die, I realize I will be in a better place.  And certainly I should die trying to be the best me I can be. In November I started the process of having RNY, thinking that I was a shoo-in for insurance approval, as I previously attended Weigh****chers for 16 months within the past two years.  Unfortunately recently I found that since it was not medically supervised, it was not recognized, and led to my denial. So on this past Monday, I met with my PCP to begin my supervised six-month diet.  He is extremely supportive and wonderful to work with.  I have already hopped back into an exercise regimen.  I love Zumba!  Also love Leslie Sansone and water aerobics. Did I mention that today is ten weeks since I quit smoking cold turkey?  And you will probably often hear me toot my horn on this one.  I can't believe it! I know this six months will fly, and I intend to give it my best honest effort.  I want to be healthy in order to have the most productive surgery.   So I hope to continue to meet more great people on my journey.  In case you didn't already notice, I can talk an ear off!  Please feel free to send a friend request or PM at anytime!  I can also be found at myspace.com/robyncarp Best wishes to you all!

Hi Robyn, It's nice to meet you.  Congratulations on quitting smoking, it's really the best thing you will every do for yourself and then weight loss. Your babies are adorable. Lyndee
