Lap Band Pen Pal

I'm looking for a lapband pen pal. I'm getting ready to have the procedure on January 8, 2007 but I have so many questions, I would like answered. I need to know what to expect from someone that is a lap band surgery. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi there, I appreciate your response. I'm from Corpus Christi but will have my surgey in Victoria, TX. It's an hour and 15 minutes away. I'm excited because of my upcoming surgery but I do not know what to except post op. Did you have a lot of pain? Will they send me home with pain meds? Please advise me of all u went thru post op. Hi there Mary! As far as pain goes, I think it varies from person to person. I was sent home with a script for pain medicine - but had some left over from when I had my tonsils taken out so I didn't have to get any extra. I really wasn't in any pain. I had to do a ten day preop liquid diet (but I actually did 12 days) to shrink the liver. I suggest lots of walking - first it's good for you - then it's good for the gas too. As soon as you feel coherant - ask if you can get up and walk. Don't just stay in the bed waiting for them to help get you up. In order to heal, you have got to get up and get moving. I also helps prevent blood clots and pnemonia. I'm two months and one week and four days out and I've lost 38 pounds. I'm the support group leader for lap banding with my surgeons office as well. If you have any specific questions or worries or anything like that - let me know. We're hoping to make it to Corpus Christi this summer - wanting to go to San Antonio. We went last year to San Antonio, but ended up going to Free Port instead (yuck - big mistake). You never know - we might just meet up! I look forward to talking to you some more! Tonja
