Looking for a penpal to share the journey with
I am a 46 yr old mother of 2. I am married to a wonderful man. I have just put in my referral to have RNY at Henry Ford in Detroit. If anyone is on the same journey and interested in sharing our experiences....give me a shout!!! I am starting with a BMI of 51.2, been heavy all my life and have many comorbidities. Diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, thyroid disorder, bulging discs in my back, tired, and generally not a very active person. But I want to change all of that. I want to live, travel, enjoy everyday life. Be with my husband, see my kids and grandkids. I am too young to sit back and watch life pass my by.
Hi Deborah,
I would love to share my experiences with you. Congrats on making the decision to have surgery. I hope all goes well for you. My name is Angie and I am 27. I just had RNY in May and have lost 60#. I felt the same way you did...tired and not wanting to do a whole lot. Please let me know if you have any questions or just want to chat. Interests?? How old are your kids?
It would be great to hear from you.
Angie

I am 43 years old, I too have 2 kids (girls), am married to a wonderful man, an am just plain sick AND tired of being sick and tired.I just had my psych evale today. I will be having my surgery at HFH Wyandotte w/ Dr Hendrichs. I will find out my next step on Monday. How about you? Where are you in your journey?

Hi Deborah,
I'm considered an "old lady" at 57 years of age who had this surgery last September "2006".... I too am married but have no children & I live in PA.....I would love to be your pen pal if you wouldn't mind writing to someone in my state who has finally regained her life back & is loving it too! You are sooo right you are way too young to sit back & watch life pass you by as yo have a wonderful life with your husband and children & should be 100% part of it. If you would like to email me directly here is my address: [email protected], emails or snail mails are fine with me. I had some of your disorders too & now they are all gone! Let's see if we can find comradary in a good pen pal friendship! Phyllis Snook
