wanted: someone to share the ups and downs with
Hi! My name is Emily and I am just starting the process--and I mean "just." I am meeting with my general practitioner to get a referral from his on Tuesday. I know I will be approved for surgery because I have medicaid and I was approved once already, so that shouldn't be an issue.
I have never even met anyone in real life who has had any kind of WLS. These message boards are helping me with some questions, but I would love to have someone to write to and share with who is also just starting with the process.
I want to have someone to laugh and cry with, if I can be so sentimental. This is a huge, life-changing thing, and a lot of issues are going to come up. Who will I be able to talk to when my comforting food is gone and all I can do is drink protein powder? Who will be there to hear about my drainage? Who will I call when I weigh myself and want someone who genuinely appreciates a loss?
You can click on my name and read a lot more about me in my profile, but the general stuff is that I'm a student getting a poetry degree, I'm 24, and I live in Omaha. I have a lot of health problems that I'm looking forward to being rid of. Notably, I have bipolar disorder, so if you have it too, maybe we can talk about finding meds that can be crushed together lol.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who is also looking for a friend to share this with. Thanks.

Emily - Hi, I'm Lee. Your message caught my eye, as my sister Emily had WLS!! I did not, and am not planning on it. I did lose 150lbs though, and am struggling everyday with keeping it off. My main interest is the plastic surgery, and I hope to find someone to share that with.
While I don't really know what all is involved with the WLS, I do know how to listen, so feel free to contact me. Best of luck.
