Hi. My name is Alexis (Lexy) and though I am a presently disabled RN, I don't have much of a support system; i.e. no family and my friends work. I am 56 and would love to hear about your personal experiences. Knowing the staffing problems in hospitals today, I am particularly anxious about inpatient care. I will have my RNY performed at Cleveland Clinic, Weston. Any advice/support you can give will be most appreciated. Thanks! Lexy

Hi Lexy- My name is Sharon. I had open RNY in March 2004. I would like to be a part of your support system. My open RNY came with complications. The hospital I stayed in had very good staffing. When I needed assistance for anything, they were there. I recently had hernia surgery back in Jan and I was very fustrated with both the nurses and the support staff. They were not there when I needed them the most. I do not take to pain very well. My pain takes a lot of time to control. One piece of advice that I can give to you is-Please stay on top of your pain!! Walk as much as you can even if you dont feel like it. I was bad about that. I got lazy about walking and got lazy about drinking water. Would like very much to get to know you better. Please email me back at [email protected]. I look forward to getting to know you and hearing back from you.

Hi Lexy, what a pretty name. I live in N. Florida and I am pre-op. Hoping for a surgery date soon. How are you doing after your surgery? I think I will e-mail you also just in case you don't see this. Hope all went well with your surgery and you are resting, sipping and walking. Cheryl
