WANTED: Pen-pal to share in beginning of journey to WLS!
Hi there,
I am pretty new to the site (so much to read!) I live in KY and have been researching Lap Band and have a seminar to go to on Monday with some little known docs (scared me a little), than again with the surgeon (different) on May30th. I would like to chat with someone, maybe in KY, who is doing the same. Or just anyone who is fun, young (or young at heart), and likes to e-mail!
Thanks,
:dance:Karly
Hi -
I just got in from a very busy day. I can't believe I said Thursday. At least you knew that my appt was for today. It was for 8:30. Traffic was bad so I didn't get there till 9. Oh well.
Anyway, the appt went great. I met the surgeon. I am lucky enough to have the chief of surgery doing my open rny. He went over what he was going to do. Then he gave me 5 assignments to take care of before I meet him for the last time.
I need to make appts to see their psychologist and dietician. So I came home and did that. The nurse practitioner at the surgeon's office said that since I have Medicare as well as Cigna that I should just slide right through this as far as getting approval.
I am so psyched. When I talked to their psychologist, he told me we were going to discuss depression and anxiety since some poor people suffer from them post-op. Well, I've been in a deep depression for 5 years. I've been coming out since November and I feel wonderful. I see my shrink tomorrow and he'll write a letter of recommendation for me. My PCP did that on Friday. Then I'm going to see my old therapist and she'll write a letter. I think I'm all set.
After being a "chubbet" for 55 years, I'm finally gonna weigh less than 200 lbs. I don't want to set my expectations too high. That just leaves room for failure. Not goin' there again.
Tomorrow before I see the shrink, I am going to take care of my new grandson. He's 7 wks old. He was 6 weeks early and spent 2 wks in NICU. He was 6lbs 13 oz when he was born so we weren't all that worried. His name is Courtland Matthew.
Well,, as you can tell I'm a little long winded. It's been great talking to you and thanks for getting back to me.
Linda
