Topic: RE: Hi guys!!
Many of us have different kinds of pain; for example, pain from lugging around so much excess weight, arthritis/joint pain, migraine pain, to a name a few things.  So, if you can get control of as many layers of pain as possible than it is just easier to deal with fibromyalgia.  In that respect weight loss surgery has helped my fibro because I am less tired than when I was carrying around so much more weight which contributes in a better way to the pain cycle.  Also, it has eased my joint pain.  It is soooo hard to deal with fibro so eliminating any additional pain is beneficial.

Good Luck

Bonnie,
I loved the part in your post about the babbling and trying to find the words that fit. Ha, that is my problem most of the time. I get really bad if I am put on the spot to answer questions, my brain just freezes.
It sure is frustrating! I had a professional job that I had to give up because the fog was just to thick.
It is soo nice to listen to someone else explain exactly what you have been feeling. Someone without fibro would never get this.
Thanks,
Diane

Topic: RE: chest pain
I have congestive heart failure along with my fibro. I have had many times when I did not know if my chest pain was heart or fibro. Early on I would get very nervous about this. I have learned to take a few deep breaths and lay down for a little while and just take relaxing breaths. For me, when I can not calm down or the pain does not go away then I should go in and have it checked out. Check with your dr. about having some nitro pills on hand. Usually if you take them when you are not having chest pains you just end up with a really big headache.
Try to learn to let yourself relax when you get anxious and worried. Good luck

Topic: RE: will less weight make it easier when not flaring?
Well weight loss surgery in general is going to make you feel better in general it doesn't seem to help with fibro pain. A very few have gotten relief but the majority of us still have our constant fibro pain. The important thing to remember with fibro ands exercise is to remember to go slow and easy. You don't have to exercise like an athlete for it to be effective, even a nice walk a few times a day can do wonders. It's better to be able to do a slow consistant exercise routine than to kill yourself one day and then suffer for a week because you caused a flare. Good luck to you!

Hi Everyone!!

I just joined and I have been gaining weight steadily and I eat healthy but I was just wondering If after surgery and if losing the weight makes exercising any easier.  Right now its really difficult on me to exercise however I still try.  I guess I'm just really nervous and any help would be great!!

Thanks!

It's so hard to tell someone else about pain especially docs. I have lung disease so I know how hard it is sometimes to tell the difference. I will say that my pain that comes with pneumonia is a deeper feeling pain than any fibro pain I have. My fibro pain tends to be just a constant achy feeling near the skin level, where I "think" a heart pain would be intense. However saying that, women present differently than men when it comes to say a heart attack. I would say your pains are probably more from anxiety (I've had those too) and yes they can be quite painful. You are a young woman tho so unless there is a firm reason to be concerned (say other strong symptoms) I would advise you to figure it is like the doc says fibro/anxiety pain. I've never heard about fibro pain being more painful when pushed on so not sure what they are saying there. I would say unless there is seriously intense pain, it is probably our ugly fibro. If it should get very intense never be afraid to get it checked out better safe than sorry.

Topic: chest pain
Hi ladies need some support from the fibro community. First let me staart off by saying I have anxiety problems but this gets so scary. I get alot of chest pain been told its inflamation in my cartilage from the fibro but some times its hard to not go to the ER. just to make sure but i feel so stupid when they once again tell me im fine. And alot of times they will ?? about taking my anxity pills. I went in last friday ekg fine still felt like crap on monday went to the doctors said its nomonia but he didnt do an x ray because i had my son with me. Can anybody tell me the diffrence between fibro pain and heart pain. They say the fibro pain will hurt worse if you push on it, but when it hurts all the time its hard to tell. Loretta

Fibro pain is made by stress and mental health conditions like anxiety. Relaxation techniques like deep breathing and meditation are the best solution for reducing this pain because it can help focus your mind in order to deal with the stress of the day.

Other than a pretty bad bout of depression during the switch, I have had no side effects from Savella.

It's a little hard to remember to take two pills (morning, bedtime) right now, since I was so used to taking one per day.  For me the cost is the same as Cymbalta, and it seems to work the same, so I'll stick with it.

Thanks for your reply!

Topic: RE: I'm a fibromite, considering WLS...
I have had fibro since I was 16 and am 30 now. I am scheduled for RNY next monday, March 12th 2012. I am worried about the pre op pain being pretty bad but I figure a few days of intense pain is nothing compared to what I live with now. I tend to get very bad headaches so that is a concern for me with the pain meds they are going to be giving me.

I am hoping if I do have pain that in the end I will feel much better having a lower weight.

i will let you know how everything goes for me next week!
