Topic: RE: Fibromyalgia and WLS
Thanks for the reply. I am already basically off the NSAIDS because I take Cymbalta. I am scared of the healing taking longer because even when I got my knee scoped and bi-lateral relase done in 2010 that seems like it took longer to heal because of the fibro, or who knows maybe my body was just in complete flare that whole time :(

You may want to stay away from RNY - since we are not suppose to take ant NSAIDS for pain post op due to increase chances of ulcers. Check sleeve (VSG)  or DS... (I heard horror stories about lap bands - so I would suggest you do not get that - it is a mechanical device that has a very high failure - and complication rate)

Topic: RE: I'm a fibromite, considering WLS...
I had my surgery on Feb 13th. It was much more painful than I expected, but I just took the pain meds and moved slowly. As I healed it got better. Back at work and my fibro is acting up again. I did better at home - less stress, able to relax when needed, you know really taking care of myself, which is not an option at work.

WLS is a lot to consider. I was tired of ALL my health problems that were escalating, not just fibro, that's why I chose it.

Topic: pillows
Any recommendations on a good pillow to help with neck support...my "memory foam" pillow that has served me well no longer provides the comfort it once did???

Topic: RE: will less weight make it easier when not flaring?
I agree with His Lady. Walking is a very good exercise for fibro. I have found that now that I have lost some weight I am able to exercise more(when not flaring). Of course when a flare hits all bets are off and I just concentrate on riding out the flare and then I hop back on the bandwagon.

Topic: RE: How Are You Managing After WLS
I take tramadol 2 three times a day. I also take Lyrica (which is a weight gainer)plus alot of other meds. I am able to lose it is just very slow. Now that I have more pounds off I am better able to exercise which helps speed up the weight loss.I think we just have to find something that works and then when it stops working find something else. LOL Good luck.

Topic: RE: Revision
My fibro acts up really bad when the weather changes. It doesn't seem to matter if its from hot to cold or cold to wet. Weather changes just seem to put my in a flare. I don't think revision will help with fibro pain.

I felt like my recovery was pretty quick. I have noticed that I am having less sleep apnea problems. I still use my cpap but I did get it turned down.

From my years here reading about others the surgery does indeed help or improve  apnea and many other issues caused by obesity so that will be a bonus. Myself I've never noticed it taking a longer time to heal but I've always been a quick and easy healer. Others may have a different story. Wish you well on your surgery.

Topic: Fibromyalgia and WLS
I am considering WLS here in the near future and I understand that it will not change any of my fibromyalgia symptoms. But has it helped anyone else with other symptoms they have such as sleep apnea and such? And the other thing I am worried about is a longer healing time, when I had an arthoscope done on my knee it seemed to take longer to heal, have of any of you notice longer healing periods?

Thanks,
Tawnya
