I don't know howe others do it but I stopped setting goeals to achieve a certain thing because it was just too discouraging when I couldn't do it. Now I just have a basic plan and when I can do it, it's a bonus day and if not well I'll see what tommorow brings. One of the biggest challenges with fobro is having to change our mindset. We have to accept that not everyday is not gonna cooperate with us. One day at a time is the only way I can go.

Hi Kelly,

Have you had your thyroid checked lately?  Mine went hyper some months back and one of the symptoms was this "restless leg" thing.  I walked miles while lying there trying to sleep!  They just wouldn't stop and it wore me out.  Very frustrating.

Hope you get some relief soon...and I suggest you ask for a thyroid function test.  Good luck.

Topic: Goal Setting When You Can't Know How You'll Feel
Hello All,

I'm Lisa and I was in the best health of my life four years ago when I contracted Lyme Disease.  It wasn't diagnosed till nine months later and had dug in deep.  It's chronic now and I am still fighting it with antibiotics.  From this has come Fibromyalgia, as well as joint and nerve pain (recently diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy), as well as myriad other issues.

I'm looking for exercise advice, please.  I cannot figure out how to set attainable goals I can feel good about.  Some days I grab my cane and walk, despite the pain, and feel wonderful about the achievement.  Other days, I need extra pain meds just to sit on the couch and watch tv.  I used to set goals of increasing my distance or speed over time.  That doesn't quite work now.  I can't set goals that will have me feeling like a loser on those really bad pain days...that will just make everything worse.

I'm sure others have faced this and I'm hoping some of you have ideas you can share.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Lisa

I have been battling this since 2010 and am having a difficult time finding any current support forums on the net.  It is not a widely known condition, but a bit familiar to Fibro.  I would truly be grateful if anyone can connect me with someone who has this.  Thanks!  Jane in California

See a pain management specialist  if you haven't tried this route.  Mine gives me injections in the back for the herniated disc and sciatica.  I'm going to talk to him about my knees when I go in August because the present injections by an ortho isn't doing anything for me.  He suggested at the last treatment that I may want to see a pain mgmt spc.  for the knees.  When I can keep my knees, back and neck pain under control the FMS is less.

Not the same med works for everyone but Tramadol every six hours is what I take.  Preop I took one Tarmadol and one Mobic a couple of hours before bed.  Mobic is out so I had to kick up the frequency of the Tramadol to cope with arthritis in the knees.  It also helps the FMS for me.

Hi All:

I had the RNY done on 6/29.  Just wanted to let you know that I haven't changed my meds much, other than letting go of the Advil (which was huge).  I have to keep Vicodin on hand and I take it when the pain is out of control.  Since I'm still kind of post-op I don't mind using that as a pain killer.

I'll let you know how things are going in a couple of weeks.  For right now, the fibro is unchanged.  I've got to give this some time.

So, my body is absorbing pain meds, thankfully.  We'll see what happens when I switch to something else.

Keep breathing and keep fighting for health.

Hi Jenny,
I joined this group to explore all of my options, I am looking in to having the Gastric - sleeve done, and probably one of my biggest questions and concerns was exactly what you asked!
I am miserable, between the Fibro and excess weight, I have got to do something...
Many prayers for you, Good luck!

Same here-After being diagonised with Fibro in 09 I spented almost 2 years alternation between a state of excurciating pain and sleep. Rarely any energy to exercise something not even to eat. Before then I did taebo 5x with 5 pound weights instead of gloves and teatered between high normal and overweight. Now I'm at my highest weight ever.
