Topic: RE: 30 mg Cymbalta before bedtime?
My pcp gave it to me for fibro and found out I am allergic to it.

It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require willpower. It requires sacrifice. There will be temptation. But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, it's WORTH IT! (Author Unknown). I feel this sums up my ongoing journey to a healthier me!

My shoulder pain ended up being a small tear in my rotator cuff. After a dose of steroids and some rest it is finally better. Thanks to everyone for the concern and thoughts. Fibro definately is not a one size fits all disease.

Topic: RE: IBS worse after RNY
Thank you so much.  I've been taken off of all dairy and it has helped.  I'm noticing that stress really contributes to the IBS even more than any food.  I've had a pretty good few days, so maybe I'm coming through the worst of it.  I wish that RNY cured fibro!!!

With it all, not regretting the surgery.

Topic: AWOL

I've been AWOL ever since they stole my bookmarks! I couldn't remember what all I had marked and I had it set up so I could just click down the row and get to all my favorite forums. So now that I noticed this forum I'll be here everyday again. I hope everyone else is getting the help they need, however I'm afraid we've probably lost some with the loss of the bookmarks.

Topic: RE: What if you have something else besides Fibromyalgia?
While it might contribute to some cases I think the vast majority are actually fibro. I went to a rheumatotolist from Oregon Health Sciences University (one of the leading researchers of fibro and chronic fatigue). They also took buckets of my blood and said it all looked great not even any in the iffy zone so if it was a B12 deficiency they would have noticed. I do think alot of docs just give up and call what ever they can't figure out fibro, which is a real discredit to docs like I had. Fibro doesn't have anything that will show up in blood work so they really have to go by symptoms, process of elimination and even the trigger points test isn't fool proof. I also have neuropathy but again no vitamin deficiencies, mine seems to be genetic because my mom and gramma had it too. My mom was diabetic but not my gramma, so go figure! I know I'll be on pain meds the rest of my life anyway because of the neuropathy and I have horrible arthritis affecting my back mostly. I'm on a fentenyl patch and that is working better than the morphine I was on, it made me so sleepy and the patch doesn't. I think we are all different yet all have pain, the best we can do is just support each other and take it day by day and some things just don't have an answer.

Thanks for posting, I still haven't started it as have a busy schedule what with freelance work this week followed by travel to Europe, getting back mid-September...Have a quiet patch then, so will try it and see what happens..

I will also be drinking wine while in Europe as going for a reunion with friends and several parties scheduled  and restaurant evenings, so need to enjoy the fun without  being worried about interactions with any meds...Not that I intend getting blind falling down drunk, just a couple of social glasses a day, which may be too much if on meds, even Tylenol which doesn't mix with alcohol in any amount!...

I'm nor familiar with IBS so not much help but the OP sounds like she's on to something. I've heard of lots of people getting improved bowels from going gluten free. Good luck to you!

Topic: RE: Lymph node question
I had a swollen node many years ago and a surgeon just snipped it out, no biggie, used a local anesthesia. Nowadays they may be able to just empty it with a needle, hard to tell, depends on whether it is solid or liquidy. You might try cymbalta for pain. I had been in lyrica but it made me gain so switched to cymbalta and it has worked fine with no weight gain. You might ask your doc about it. Hang in there!

Well I don't drink so can't answer to that, I used to and it seemed to make my fibro worse. I've taken cymbalta for several years and haven't had any issues. The first few days I was a little speedy feeling but it went away. Never had any of the horror stories I've read about. I think those tend to happen more often when used on people with severe mental health issues, but it has to be listed as a side effect. I was also told to taper up my dosage for a few days, but that my not apply with your surgery. It has helped my pain tho. Maybe try it when you have a famine stretch so you don't have to go to work amd can see how it works.

I see you have a lap band, they can cause back and shoulder pain because they irritate the vagas nerve near the stomach, another thing they don't tell us about the band! Are you on any pain meds for your fibro? There are several that are fairly effective with the pain, lyrica, cymbalta and savella. I use cymblta and it works pretty well for me. It would also help for you to see a pain specialist, they tend to have a better understanding of fibro pain. There is no reason for you to suffer and be so miserable, there are treatments for fibro. We all tend to need a different form of treatment, it's not a one size fits all disease.
