The DS is *THE* solution to Severe Morbid Obesity!
I never saw the inside of a court room when I was granted disability. I had a "bench decision", based on the judge looking at my file and documentation. The courts were so clogged with cases, my hearing was scheduled two years out from my notification.
I was awarded retroactively to my date of onset, meaning my benefits started immediately, since my date of onset was in 2005, and that time counted as my two year waiting period for Medicare. The decision came down in April 2008. Medicare, Medicaid and my full SSDI with one month of SSI before the regular benefits started.
I have since had my DS, lost 245 pounds, and am in retraining to come off disability at graduation from Voc-Rehab and job placement. My goal is to become a bariatric dietitian. By tne way, I'll hit double nickels (55) in January on my birthday, so it's never too late to take advantage of Voc-Rehab!
Some words of advice: Don't ever let anybody make you feel like you are a lesser person because you are on disability. I had real issues with that.

She didin't hesitate to restore my Cymbalta, and I've had no issues since.
Every new medicine isn't for everybody!

Haven't tried Savella, so I'm not sure how well that works.

thankx for the reply!! I found out last week that my esphogas has severe spasms near my pouch. My pouch is still perfect size. I don't have any strictures. I have an appt with GI specialists on 10/22/12.

we somewhat have the same issues!!!!!! I also have issues with weight gain, constipation, an inner hemorrhoid, and fibromyalgia. The constipation is IBS and women will develop constipation instead of diarrhea. The upper GI issue is a possible hiatal hernia and you may need a revision like I am getting in thear future. I am hear if you need support!!!!!
