Topic: RE: I have noticed that lately
Thank you so much Hislady. I have been wondering whether the RnY did interfere with my fibro.. I did see my psychiatrist today (depression accompanies Fibro) and he increased my meds.
We will see what happens.. sighs

You might want to talk to your surgeon and see if he thinks your surgery may be causing malabsoption of your meds. Some RNY folks do have to switch to different meds or take more of them because of their surgeries. Good luck I know mine has improved since I started neurontin.
Topic: RE: I have noticed that lately
I had my surgery 8 weeks ago today and I have been in a flare up for almost 5 weeks now. It is very painful. I too am on cymbalta, and also take neurontin, but they seem to be only helping very little at this time. Not sure if there is a connection to WLS or if it is the weather. I always get extremely bad in the winter time. Even though it is only fall, we have had some cold and rainy days as well.
Hope you feel better soon!

Topic: I have noticed that lately
my FM has been really acting up.
It is cold damp and wet outside so I expect to have the nasty pain but it almost seems like my Fibro meds aren't working anymore?
I'm on Lyrica and Cymbalta and they seemed to work fairly ok prior to WLS
Anyone else find this? I'm a bit concerned that they aren't being absorbed properly because my system is now "rerouted"
Thanks

Topic: weather change
How's everyone hanging in with the change to cold damp weather? I know it is a tough time for most of us. I have spent a couple of days on the sofa wrapped up with my fuzzy blanket. I am without my Lyrica for the last two weeks and if I had any doubt it was helping, I now know it does.
We went one vacation in Sept. for two weeks. I guess the combination of stress getting everything ready and Fibro fog, I accidently threw my brand new refill of Lyrica in the trash. I have to pay $227.00 for my 30 day fill. By the time my husband and I figured it out the trash service had run. The pharmacy sold me enough for vacation, but it was a total cash buy.
I only have 3 days till I can get my refill. Boy I bet I guard that bottle with my achey body!
Great News...8 days on the beach, warm sun, warm sand and it was a blast! The best seafood ever!

Topic: RE: Disability Hearing
Thank you for the words of encouragement. My daughter, who is an RN was just coming to the realization of how hard it must be to have multiple invisable illnesses. That is a challenge that I have been trying to work through. Having worked in customer service all my life, reflex answer to How are you doing....I"m great, how about you? Several years ago I had a really great Dr. when I gave him my automatic answer and smile. He would always say if you are doing so great why are you here? For me that was the perfect clue to stop and tell him how I really was.
The Dr. I have now is very supportive.

Topic: RE: What if you have something else besides Fibromyalgia?
I have both lupus (SLE) and fibromyalgia. I know for a fact it's not my supplements, because I am neither deficient in iron or B12.
My DS, however, has made fibro flares less comnon and less severe, thanks to the medicines that are effective now that I've lost 245 pounds. I am in mild pain everyday, but it's manageable now.
Edited to add:
As for SLE, I had a major flare 9 months ago. Major = cannot move, eat, barely drink, or sleep, and would welcome a few days worth of anethesia - I'm poking fun now, but in the moment, it is pure HELL! That's when I get the prednisone and heavy duty pain meds now, not everyday, like before.

Topic: RE: Lyrica and Savella
I take both Cymbalta and Lyrica. They work great for me, SAvella, on the other hand, did make me suicidal. and I had every side effect the drug had to offfer, except one.
It would be interesting to find out the body chemistry of those whom Savella seems to work best for.
