Topic: RE: anyone with Fibro from Minneapolis area?
As a rule either rheumatologists or pain specialists will be a good place to start. You'd have to call to make sure they do treat it and are in your insurance coverage. Also sometimes neurologists deal with it too. Yopu might want to go online and check some of the national fibro groups and see if they have any list of doctors in your are. Good luck to you because it makes all the difference in the world as to how well you are treated!

Topic: anyone with Fibro from Minneapolis area?
Hello,
just wondering if there is anyone from the Minneapolis area here? I need to find a good doctor who has experience with Fibro.
Thanks!

Hi...I did not think after having a VSG we could take NSAIDs . Congratulations on your fantastic weight lost!!! I had a VSG done July 2008. I did great for about 6 months....lost 70 lbs. which was my goal weight. Then everything started downhill...fibromyalgia, entire spine has problems, rheumatoid arthritis and an extremely difficult marriage (5 years now). My stress level is out the roof which makes the fibro worse. But....I just wanted to tell you to please be very careful and do not gain the weight back. It can happen so fast...I gained 35 lbs back. I will loose it again but must work on getting out of pain first. So many of the medicines will cause weight gain or block you from loosing. Good Luck and Congrats!

Topic: RE: Lyrica and Savella
I took Lyrica which made me loopy and very dizzy. I took Savella for two weeks. I had bizarre side effects of being hypersexually stimulated. Needless to say I stopped both. I am now on Cymbalta and weaning myself back to the NSAIDS with difficulty. Cymbalta works well but I don't like the weight gain associated with it. I am taking 30mg daily.
I had the gastric sleeve in July and have lost 57 pounds.

Also, get your doctor to sign the form for a handicapped parking placard or license plate in your state, and make good use of the electric carts at the store when you go grocery shopping.

Forget the "dirty looks" because you will get them. You are just as entitled to use them as someone whose disability is evident.

Buy and use a cane if you need to.  I found that it helped on the days when I was feeling very weak.

It's interesting that you mention weight gain as a side effect.  I have not had any significant weight gain, but perhaps it's because I have a DS instead of a RNY.  It would probably be different for someone who has a LapBand, or one of the other surgeries, too.

Topic: RE: Fibro Pain Meds after RNY
I have been on almost every pain medication non-narcotic and narcotic. none of the non-narcotic pain meds would work for me and they all made me gain weight. When they started giving me narcctic pain meds they just dont work as well as they would for a regular person. they dont last as long as they are supposed to and dont seem to have the strength they should they recently put me on fyntanyl patches and they are working well. i wouldnt suggest it to someone eles unless they were very desparate but as a last resort for me it was the only option. The only nice thing about it is there is no up and downs of it wearing off and what not. But I wanted to let you know there are other options :)

I tried Lyrica, Savella and cymbalta. None of them worked for me and they all made me gain weight as well.
