Topic: RE: Possible Fibro and running questions - XPost

If your dx is Fibro, I can't imagine why you can't exercise. I don't run, but I do exercise 6 days a week on the elliptical and weights. Exercising is supposed to be good for Fibro, although I know I hurt more now than before, but I also can deal with it a little better now that I'm exercising. You will always have flare-ups, but maybe they will prescribe you one of the meds that help with Fibro pain and you will be able to do the program you want! Hope it all works our for you!

Topic: Possible Fibro and running questions - XPost

It seems more and more like my doctor is going to come back with a diagnosis of a fibromyalgia in regards to all my years long medical problems.  It seems like it is becoming more of a distinct possibility.    Previously my doctor had thought that it was pinched nerves in my back (one of my last many diagnosis) and said I couldn't run. :(

I have been looking forward to getting into the couch to 5k program.  My good friend, Alison, is going to start the program when she is recovered from her plastics and released to exercise again. I have been really looking forward to doing this program with her.

My question is this: if the diagnosis is really fibro - does anyone know if the running and exercise restrictions will remain?  I am doing all the research I can online, but haven't found where it is expressly restricted.  Any information on this question, or any insights into this diagnosis will be appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

Topic: RE: Lyrica caused weight gain!!!!

I had terrible reactions to Lyrica and now also take Cymbalta. My Fibro is severe in the winter and summer months, so I hope the meds work for me this winter!

I tried lyrica and did gain about 10 lbs pretty fast so talked to my doc and he put me on cymbalta instead, that hasn't caused the wight gain that the lyrica did. There is also savella for fibro and neurontin is sometimes very effective and it has next to no side effects or interactions with other drugs. Not everyone gains with lyrica tho so try it, iot may npt bother you but if it does there are alternatives. Don't stress just work with your pain specialist. Good luck to you, go ahead with your surgery and start your journey!!

Topic: RE: 30 mg Cymbalta before bedtime?

Glad to report that. skeptical as I was, the 2 week trial of  Cymbalta has proven positive....I had a headache the first 3 days at night ( I took the Cymbalta at bedtime) and the first 2 nights I woke up after 4 hours sleep and stayed wide awake for the next 3 hours....After that it was clear sailing, no sleep problems or headaches...Had no pain relief until the 8th night (or day)...minor arthritic pains in hands and feet were gone and also the stiffnes/pains in ankles and feet, and heaviness in legs.plus shoulder/back pains gone....Really think it is working but takes a while to kick in.

I Googled all my meds to see if any incompatibilities,  and yesterday a primary care physician who gave me the prescription checked as well, and I won't have to worry about Cipro ( which I take occasionally for IBS and Diverticulitis as well as cystitis) being incompatible as at the low dose I will be taking, even if I need to double or tripple  the dose, he says it will not be a problem...

Absolutely no fog like I had with Amytriptilene !  I am a Cymbalta convert....oh, and it is OK for me with wine, no problemo! Tried it and noticed nothing in the way of any effects...but I am aware that both wine and meds are all processed by our liver so will keep that in mind and not overdo the wine!.

Topic: Please help... sorry this is long

So to make a very long story short I left my old family doc because he out right said that my body pain was due to me being "fat" and I should go find a gym not a doctor for help. So in January I started seeing a new doc, we spoke in length about all my symptoms and we both felt it was time for a referral for wls. She also tried treating my pain with no luck. The pain has gotten so bad that I now use a shower chair because I cant stand long enough to take a shower. So today I met with a pain specialist who diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. Finally validation! He prescribed a narcotic for pain and Lyrica for nerve pain. Here's my dilemma, while reading the side effects weight gain is at the top of the list. What do I do, start taking the Lyrica and have surgery next month and cross my fingers that I will lose enough weight to make surgery worth while or do I not take it and just take the narcotics for pain? OMG what do I do? I feel so deflated.

Thanks for listening,

Andrea

I switched to cymbalta and that has worked well for me, didn't cause the weight gain.

Topic: Lyrica caused weight gain!!!!

I was in a car accident 4 years ago which left me with Fibromyalgia. Lyrica caused severe weight gain of 55 pounds, i have just started losing weight rapidly just recently but, before the medication wouldnt let me lose any, I had tried every diet and weight loss program out there and thousands of dollar just went to waist! What is everyone else doing for their weight loss?

Topic: RE: FMS ....RNY....BABY.....2 yrs late no weight loss...HELP!!

Hi Sunny, I had gained 55 pounds with my 3 year old son. I had tried everything to get the weight off. I had yo yo the enitre time and i just eventually gave up. I received this free sample pack 6 months ago of a product that was launched of all natural ingrediants. I had tried and i defintly didn't think it was going to work. I got the three day sample pack and lost 2 pounds... It was amazing. Im on my 5th month and i have lost 40 pounds!!! This product shrinks the mid section so you do not feel hungry and feel full much faster. It was the first time that my mind and body were on the same page, therefore, it made my weight loss fast and successfull. This product was created by a Dr. designed it for people that could take it even if they are on meds and have health problems, its very safe. If you are interested, i have some free samples left, you will no right away if you are going to lose weight on it. If you are interested feel free to msg me back and i will see if i can mail one out to you. Any questions please ask! Best of luck hun!
