Topic: RE: Just checking in How is everyone
I read some of your profile, briefly, and I stopped in my tracks and my eyes popped out only to read "God gave me the perfect illness".  I was shocked to see that.  I am not giving a Bible lesson here, but God is a loving God, and wouldn't do this type of cruel thing to us.  He loves us.  The ruler of the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one "Satan".  He is the one that causes bad for us.  So, I just wanted to clarify that. Here are some scriptures right out of the Bible.    The apostle Paul associates Satan with “the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places," and he speaks of them as “the world rulers of this darkness." (Eph 6:11, 12) As a governing force in the invisible realm immediately about the earth, Satan is “the ruler of the authority of the air." (Eph 2:2) In Revelation he is shown to be the one “misleading the entire inhabited earth." (Re 12:9) The apostle John said that “the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." (1Jo 5:19) He is therefore “the ruler of this world." (Joh 12:31) That is why James wrote that “the friendship with the world is enmity with God."—Jas 4:4.

Hey Lilli,
I read that your building sold.  Are you going to have to work in Florida since you won't have that income from the building anymore.  I hated being co-owner with my sister after we got my mom's 4 plex.  So, I sold her my half and used it buy a house.  Are you buying a condo or renting an apartment,  and you won't have to work, you can live off of the remaining money.  You should do better in Fl since the weather is better, maybe working there will be easier and a lot less painful.  Especially coming from SF, I could never live there................way toooooo cold.    Good choice.  Is your husband glad to be moving?  Keep us posted.

Topic: RE: Meds for Fibro
I have had fibromyalgia for about 15 years.  I have taken all NSAID's, a boat load of antidepressants, darvocet, loratab, steroids, etc.  Nothing really helped the pain that much, just made it a little more bearable.  I started a pre-op diet and 1000 Vitamin D and have felt much better ever since.  I had RNY on September 3, 2009.  I have lost 55 pounds so far and am feeling much much better.  Immediately after surgery, I had some issues with pain and the nurse practitioner told me to continue the high dose of vitamin D in addition to my bariatric vitamins and withiin a few days I was feeling better again.  Mayo Clinic recently came out with a study showing that high doses of vitamin D can help people with chronic pain problems.  http://www.qualityhealth.com/pain-articles/vitamin-d-fibromy algia-pain.  I think the Vitamin D in addition to low carb diet and exercise has helped my fibro most of all.  They weight loss makes me more comfortable when trying to sleep and move around as well.  I have gone from over a dozen medications down to 4.  I now just take synthroid (for hypothyroidism), prevacid (required 6 months post op from RNY), Mirapex (restless legs), and Elavil (for fibromyalgia and sleep).  Opoids are defiinatley not good for fibromyalgia in the long term.  They may help with the immediate pain, but they inhibit stage 4 sleep which will make fibro worse.  If I hadn't of started this weight loss jouney, I would have never have taken Vitamin D, went low carb, or really tired to exercise.  While the surgery itself may not have helped, the process did.  I still have about 100 pounds more to lose.  I hope to continue to do well with my fibro too.

I'm right there with you. I can't lose my last #20 because I can't exercise!
Every night I swear I'm going to walk or do an exercise video the next morning only to wake up exhausted and in pain and not able to.

My body is a battlefield.

Sorry I can't offer suggestions, but I want you to know you are not alone.

Topic: RE: I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 3 days ago.
i have had fibromyalgia since i was about 10 I'm 31 now it is a hard illness that honestly most doctors disregard, they dint feel that it is a disability but it is and it hurts like hell.

as for the meds. your doctor is rite you should not take any thing honestly not even Advil or aspirin because the meds. that are for arthritis and fibro> are blood thinners and that is why we can not take them before surgery there is great risk of bleeding out so my advice of 21 years of experience is that you should go to walmart and get Tylenol arthritis 650 mg. and take one every 6 hours it may not give you complete relief but it will subside some of the pain for a while.

Topic: RE: Savella
I'm on day eight on savella. I also have diagnosed Tendonitis in my arms that hurt. I've had some nausa and now I get this feeling of fullness that I'm up to 50 mg twice a day on the pack. I'm truly hoping this works so I can dump asking for the darvocet.  I thought loosing a lot of weight would help also but it didn't.  Tramadol quit working like it used to and cymbalta just adds pounds to my body which in the long run hurts so I can't take that. I can't take any nasaid for the tendonitis and that is what is hurting the worst especially at night.  Good greif this fibro is dibilitating and I have been suffering a flare since January of this year with very little let up. I'd like to keep following up with people on this med with RNY to see what happens. Also anyone in tampa bay  fl area please let me know what good doctors you know in the area that don't treat you like a moron or are scared to death to use pain killers.  Keep chatting on the treatments

Come here often we all do UNDERSTAND each other and we know how it feels.

I relate too.  I am up 11 pounds from my 70 pounds of loss since surgery just over a year ago.  I am in pain, eat to comfort, and then feel guilty.  I feel that I have failed my RNY and that everyone is watching to see how much I gain back.  My pants are getting too tight and I got rid of all my old clothes because I thought this was the answer.  I hope I am wrong and can turn this around but I feel my hope slipping away.
