Fatty liver is common for us before surgery. Like the other poster said, we usually go on the liquid diet to shrink it before surgery.  I wouldn't worry too much about it right now.  You will see a huge difference in about six months from surgery.  It will shrink back down.

The mind plays tricks on us before surgery and right after so just ignore it for now.  You'll do great!  Sounds like you will be on the losers bench before you know it.

Hoping the best for you. Good that it will speed up the wls, that is always good. I didn't do anything to reduce my liver before my op. They had someone cancel out so they kind of rushed me to take the place, I had most all of my pretests done and so I was the only one who could take the spot, I was so glad. Best of luck.

yeah i guesse it is from being obese because i never took that much medication for it to be because of that. radiologist says my liver should be between 7-9cm. but it is 22.3cm. which is really big i to hope that its nothing more than the weight and WLS will so its thing.  thanks for your comment.

I'm sure no doc but what it sounds like he's saying is fatty liver and anyone obese has a fatty liver, that's why they have us do a liver shrinking diet pre-op. I know tylenol can cause kidney and liver damage but it takes huge doses to do so. I haven't heard of other narcotic or antidepressant pain meds causing it tho. You should really have him explain exactly what it is and what the prognosis is in reality so you don't stress more than you have to. It could just be a big name for northing, I hope so anyway!

sounds kinda scary and I'm not to sure what it really means i just know that the doctor said it could turn into curosis then cancer but first hepatitis, the ultra sound shows that my liver is 22.3 cm . and it should only be 7-9cms. they say that i got it from pain meds.for the fibro> she said there is no cure. should i be scared, i was at first but i try not to worry so much. the dr. said it will rush my surgery so that's the only benefit i get out of it.

i dint know what to do anymore for pain i cant even have Tylenol any more!

I couldn't tolerate it.  I sweat like crazy not even doing anything.  I hate to sweat.  I take Cymbalta.  I tried Lyrica and I hurt worse on it than not on it.

Thanks for your reply I was worried about taking something new again.I've try Cymbalta and thought I would jump off a bridge . Thank God I know something was wrong and start reading the side effect.  And I had a reaction to something in it also. Will start on them tomorrow thanks again.

It has not helped at all-but--I am alot more comfortable and can get around easier (and clothes shopping is alot more fun).
