I don't think it matters what surgery we have we all still get "buyers remorse" the week after. You'll feel better once you've "settled" into your new life!

Isn't guai a hard regime to follow?  From what I understand there are so many things that we use every day that work against it, such as foods and hand creams, that getting it to work can be a challenge.

Yoga does good things for the fibro body by gently strengthening and lengthening the muscles.  DVDs are good, but get yoga for old people, pregnant people, slightly broken people, whatever, but don't buy anything with the word "Ashtanga" on it because that's yoga for the hard cores, and way beyond our capability.  Hatha yoga is good.  Invest in a sticky mat to prevent injuries, and take your sticky mat in the shower with you to give it a good soaping down before you use it, or it will forever be slightly slippy.

FYI, yoga is harder than it looks and can be quite the workout.

Topic: RE: Poll: What meds have helped you the most?
I've had fibro since I was 11.  Honestly?  I can pop pain pills like tic tacs with no real effect.  My most useful medication is the amitryptaline, which helps me sleep.  Good sleep is one of the fundamentals of fibro management.  If I short myself on sleep I tend to hurt more, fall asleep at the most inopportune times and am generally incredibly miserable.  If I sleep relatively well then things are improved to sucky.

You can also go the lap band route if you don't have huge amounts of weight to lose.  I'm trying the band out and I've got about 150lbs to lose.  I just have sooooo many problems going in that I didn't want to risk doing anything permanent like rearranging my insides, which is hard to reverse.  I've had fibro for 23 of my 34 years now and I know well what is going to send me into a tailspin.

Fibro and lupus are very closely related so it's entirely possible you have fibro and not lupus.  A rhumie should be able to tell the two apart no problem.

First you should check with your pharmasist and see if you will have any drug interaction with any other meds you are taking, not to mention the fact that it may not be FDA approved almost always is a sure sign that it is a NO-NO.  You could explain to her that it won't mix correctly with your other meds that you have to take.  (once you have confirmed that).  since you really don't know what it is, tell her you appreciate her help and thoughts on this, but it isn't good on your intestines and you would prefer to use items you are familiar with.  Maybe she can get her money back.  You have to be careful when taking meds with other "meds" in hopes of feeling better, you could actually have a reaction and get sick(er).  Soap, no thank you.  Hope you find this helpful.  Ask your doctor or pharm about this and give that info to your mom.  Kristy

Topic: RE: fibro flare and WLS trouble
I had the jerking in bed years ago. I thought it was something with the nerves. Are you depressed or starting menapause??? I can remember feeling like that I am now 62. Seems like with me though my medicines have to be changed so many years. I sure hate to change med's too. You never know how you will react to any med's or combo of them. Good luck and let us know how your doing !!!
