Topic: RE: Savella
Well I haven't tried it myself yet but have seen good reports on it. I think there are a few folks here taking it so maybe they will chime in and be able to give a better report. Best of luck to you!
Topic: Savella
I went to the Dr. yesterday for yet another round of pills, and she mentioned to me Savella. It is supposed to be a new medicine for Fibromyalgia. Has anyone heard of it? Better yet, is anyone out here taking it??? How are the side effects? I did not like the long term side effects of Cymbalta, so I am looking to steer away from those kind of side effects, but I am interested to see how it stacks up.
It just dawned on me why I have been hurting so bad lately - I came off of Cymbalta and now I am feelling full force pain for the first time in 1-1/2 years.

Wow,
I was going to post a new topic, but this one covers my complaint. I am in California, and it is 48 degrees outside. I am gonna whine about being cold and sore. I tried to tell my pain management pharm. that the meds are doing no good and I need more. So we really do get hit with the cold. It is as though we have no meds at all. I am still on the 50mcg Fentanyl patch and Norco. Well, I can take up to 4 Norco and still feel like my arms are jello. I feel like a rubber band. I stayed in bed during the holiday time off and can't get back to normal. Is it really the cold weather or something else? I have tried muscle relaxers and that helps some, but too tired now. I almost feel like I am dying a slow death. Sorry to sound so dramatic, but that is the only way to describe it. I just need your comfort. I am sure my husband is ready to pull his ears off. lol. Thank you ladies for all of your support during the winter months. Kristy

Topic: RE: Pain.....medication question
All lyrica did for me was make me gain weight, little to nothing for pain relief. I'm taking cymbalta right now but need to up my dose and doc says not now! The only thing that really helps my pain is narcotic pain meds. I take 30 mg morphine 2x a day and oxycodone 3-4 times a day for break thru pain but I still hurt, just not as bad. I sure wish some one would find a cure for this cause I get so tired of being in pain!
Topic: Pain.....medication question
I am in soooo much pain! I am on 450 mg Lyrica a day - take 100 mg at a time several times a day. It doesn't seem to have any affect on my symptoms. Has anyone else tried Lyrica with no results? What medications help you?

I just posted this in another thread on here - but it fits here too.....lol
I took Cymbalta for over a year for my FM, and don't remember having too much relief.
I will tell you, you def. need to stay aware of your side effects. I have all but lost 100% of my desire for sex, was grumpy and very moody, and I found that I just felt blah. I didn't feel great, but I didn't feel bad.
I decided to come off of the meds and let me tell you - IT WAS TORTURE!!!! Once you come off of them, you will never go back on them!!! You will be amazed at what they are doing to your body!!! The withdrawl symptoms where worse than anything I could have ever imagined!! I am a pretty strong person - I quit smoking cold turkey after 24 years of smoking - I had a hard time, but compared to coming off Cymbalta that was a piece of cake!!!
Good luck to you all taking Cymbalta.
I have found that narcotics seem to be the only thing that helps me too.

Topic: RE: more pain since surgery
I have had fibro m. for 5 years now. Before lyrica I was walking with a cane. With lots of meds I have been able to be "okay" but it was not until I found our though my weight loss surgen blood work that I had a vit. D deficency that I learned causes all of the same symptoms as Fibro. M. I am now taking 5 thousand mg of Vit D. a day (a ton) and feeling really really really great for the first time in years. I also try to expose my skin to the sun for at least 10 min. a day, even in freezing winter. Anti virals make me feel better too. orginally it was to treat high levels of Ebsiten Barr virus that cause MS symptoms over time. Once my Ebstien Barr levels went down I went off of the anti viral and started to spiral down again. I now take lots of D, other vits and pills, lyrica and anti virals every day and am feeling SO MUCH BETTER. I am soposto have surgery lap band in three weeks. I weigh around 250 and I am 36 years old with 4 kids. Do you crush all your pills each day? How? Is it a pain? Do you mix it into a drink?
