Topic: Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions...VERY BAD TIME OF THE YEAR!
REMINDER....
http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/crossingtotransferaddictions/
Hi All,
There is a new OH Online Support Group. The above link will get you there.
It's called Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions.
This group discusses the issue of transfer addictions (also known as cross addictions) after weight loss surgery. there are millions of people who have undergone gastric bypass who are now dealing with issues of addiction transfer.
For a number of people, giving up overeating leads to adoption of a new compulsion.
Addiction transfer occurs when someone is unable or unwilling to rely on one compulsion (for us, it was food) and so switches to a new compulsion (alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, shopping, internet, porn, etc) due to not having dealt with the underlying issue behind the compulsion.
***Please feel free (and safe) to join and discuss any and/all issues you have regarding Transfer Addiction. ***
WE WILL SUPPORT EACH OTHER WITHOUT JUDGEMENT!

Topic: RE: Pain.....medication question
When I was taking Cymbalta, I couldn't tell the difference when I was on it and when I went off of it. Except the side effects even when tapered off, were so horrible. I wouldn't want that to happen to each of us just to find out the med doesn't work. Narcotics work the best. I am taking the fentanyl patch 50mcg and Norco as the break through med. But I think even with the best of the best for each of us, unless we live in Hawaii or somewhere warm year round are going to have no results for the winter months. I was actually planning to see if I would be able to get 3 months temp disability during the winter and just hibernate like a bear. I don't know what else to do. I am pretty much useless to my family and work, so why not stay in bed and get some excercise to where I don't fall apart, but these are the meds that help me.

Happy New Year Fibro Sisters!
Pam, I'm so sorry you (and the other fibro sisters) are feeling the effects of the winter. I remember living in NY (Binghampton area) for too long. The winters and the cold never seemed to let up!
I have been very fortunate the past 6 weeks or so. Minimal pain, lots of energy and no depression (i'm sure that comes with the pain).
Christmas and New Year's was spent surrounded with people who I love and who love me. My son was home from Fort Campbell (had just returned from being in Afghanistan for 18 mths), my two daughters and other son also hung around the house here in Florida. Fortunately for us, husband is over seas on a contract job and won't be bac****il the first of Feb, so there was no tension in my new condo during the holidays. I'm sure that led to having a very enjoyable and relaxing time.

Hi Ladies,
Pam, thanks for posting! I am feeling the very same way! Between the driving during the holidays, extra year end work that I needed to do not to mention the crappy, lousy weather we are having here in Annapolis, Maryland. I don't think I remember what not being in pain feels like. To top things off I am dog sitting for dear friends of mine who are in Hong Kong. She is a sweet border collie, who is 12 but acts like she's a puppy. Three to four walks a day-which are good for my waist line but not so hot for my muscles. I have been using Lidoderm patches with a little relief. I am thinking of you all too! Wishing all a happy new year-one filled with lots of love, laughter, prosperity and good health! I don't post often but lurk and learn a lot! Susan

i totally agree with the holidays taking their toll. for me it's also the cold weather and, if i have to drive a long distance i suffer later, too.

sorry you're hurting so badly, divinity.
i recently raised the dosage on lyrica and am taking it along with cymbalta, tizanidine, alprazolam i still notice flares - more frequently with the colder weather and if i drive a longer distance. something about not moving for a longer time period, i guess.
anyway - stay warm. be kind to yourself. when my pain is flaring i can do little more than sit or lay down. and even then, i twitch and ache... but it'll get better. healing thoughts...

hi becky:
i tried savella for a month. didn't see a noticeable change in pain level, had a terrible case of red eye but not sure it was from the med. i've had fibro diagnosed for several years now and have decided i'm going to try more lyrica. currently taking two at bedtime, along with cymbalta, tizanidine, and alprazolam.
just an fyi - my medical insurance wouldn't cover the medication. i'm not sure if that's because it's so new or because it's more than 100 bucks a month. not too concerned with finding out, either, since there was no signifcant change in symptoms.
hope that helps

Thanks so much.
I am curious to hear from people.
She wants to see me after surgery and see how things are progressing before we decide whether or not to start it.
Where have you heard/read these reports on it? I didn't find too much info on it.
