I had a rude awakening when I tried running for the firs time in about 6 years. I couldn't walk for almost two weeks. My skin was on fire my muscles felt like I got beat up and I was just miserable all the way around.. this is after only barely jogging for 4 minutes total and not even all at once.. I was doing couch to 5 k and didn't even finish the entire first exercise. Now I'm diagnosed with fibro and I'm freaking out because I'm trying to have revision surgery and I am terrified of trying ANY exercise because the smallest things seem to set me off. I have to do something because I'm going to be starting a new job June 1st and I need to be able to move and fast when the need arises. BUT whether the need arises or not the shifts are 12 hrs so I have no choice but to be in at least a little better shape before I start. Help I don't know the SAFE exercises. excep****er exercise which are not an option for me. I'm terrified of hte water. I don't even get my face wet when I get a shower. I wet, wash and rinse my face with my fingers. Any other options for me? Please help

Probably the safest exercise would be walking or riding a bike either a real one or a stationary one. I use a stationary one because where I live it rains at least half the year. As you learned you have to be very careful when diagnosed with fibro. I would start seeing either a rheumatologist or a pain specialist to learn what you can do and how to do it. You may have a difficult time working those long hours. Of course back when I was younger and had it no one knew what it was so we just had to work thru the pain and any other problems because they used to think it was all in our heads!!! But this is a life long situation so you ned to find your self a good fibro doc that has experience in dealing with fibro that is crucial in living with this disease! Good luck to you!

Thanks, my family doc is no help. He told me to look it up on google :'( some support huh? I'm joined curves and am going to see if I can handle that since it's geared towards those who are either older or extremely heavy. We will see if it's something I can do.

Curves is a good place too I'd forgotten about them. Just remember to take anything you do slow and build up to things. Just don't over do things and you should be okay.

Hala I already have fibro could I have developed SIBO from a long term dose of 3 different types of strong antibiotics that I had to take for an unusual lung bacteria? I sure seem to have all the symptoms but my GI doc acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. He hasn't been much help with any of my intestinal issues so I'm not really surprised by his response. Thanks for any help you can give me!

A GI doc what asked me "what is that" got fired.

The study is rather new. 5-10 years old. And most docs don't know anything what they did not have in books when they went to school.

It took me a while to find a doc GI what know that stuff,

I can send you links to scientific studies and you can take that to your GI, if he is one of those guys that is willing to learn.
