Will WLS help??

I have fibro too. I haven't had WLS yet- next week scheduled for VSG. i went through OT for fibro and was told that daily stretches were the way to manage the fibro. when i was able to do them, i did notice a difference in the pain and stiffness upon waking up. the problem is when you're as overweight as i am, it's almost impossible to stretch because all the fat is in the way! so i am not expecting the surgery to cure the fibro, but i am hopeful it will get better and i can manage it better because there will be less stress on my muscles and i can participate in a daily routine to help with the symptoms! also, i know for me the flare-ups seem correlated with many things, but sleep is one of them. a regular exercise program (which is difficult to do being so overweight) might help with balancing energy levels and then sleeping better, which in turn will reduce the flare-ups. so overall, i think WLS can help mitigate the symptoms.... i am hopeful at least!

My surgeon admitted to me that WLS doe nothing for fibro and if anestesa is a trigger then it may flare but it would help the arthritis pain.  My Fibromyalgia Doctor wants me to wait on any surgery for now to see what I can do now my thyroid medicine is at a better level.  I am don to 275 from 316  with the changes I have made.
I wish you good luck on your journey to the new you.
