So freaking MAD and frustrated

I don't get it you guys. I just don't.  I made an appt for a Neurologist and he said he needed records from my primary dr. So i picked them up from my promary dr to give the neurologist. I was reading them and i couldn't believe my eyes. My dr never expressed any of this to me at all.
The records state that i have emotional problems and that i haven't taken any of the referrals for neurology or psych . She states that i am a drug seeking patient. Even the record for the infection in my wisdom teeth said that i told her that " i didn't have time to find an oral surgeon"
She basically says that i exaggerate my symptoms, puts "so she says" in my records and just basically calls me a big drug seeking psycho liar.
I am shocked and appaled by this. She never expressed any concerns to me. I have never asked her for any drugs or medications. I have never asked any dr for a narcotic medication. I would be willing to take any medication to treat any condition. She never ordered any tests for me. I am in therapy but because i have public aid the free mental health clinic has to deem you absolutely necessary to be there and the wait is very long. I have gone though. I see a chiropractor as well and i am in physical therapy twice a week as well. I see a pain dr as well and have seen the same 1 for 3 years and he has only changed the medication once. I have never seen multiple pain dr's and i did ask my primary dr for another referral to another rheumatologist because his office was 60 miles from my home and the office was overcrowded and he didn't deal with fibromyalgia and he made me wait over an hr in the lobby past my appt time and he kept leaving the office durring our meeting. I wasn't pleased. He did order tests and the tests came back normal for arthritis so i didn't see a need to go back to him.
I just don't get my primary care dr . I can't believe she would say those things. The gastric bypass has downward spiraled my health and i don't know what is wrong with me. Why do they call us drug seeking? I don't want those . I don't ask for those. I ask for help. I can't give these records to the Neuro. He probably will refuse to even order a test.  What my primary dr is saying is not true. There is no truth to it at all. Why do they do this? I am very compliant. She works out of the same hospital as my pain dr ,so if she was concerned i don't get why she never called him? I am complant with tratment i don't see other dr's. I can't find an oral surgeon on public aid but the dental school whose waitlist doesn't open up again until october. i told her that and she puts on the form i told her i didn't have the time and i didn't want to. Why do they say things like this?

Well that certainly explains why you have so much trouble getting any help! No doc is gonna want to waste their time if they think you are a drug seeker. I think I would first of all sit your doc down and ask WTF she is talking about and tell her what you've told us. I would also strongly suggest you find a new primary doc tho I realize this is more difficult when you are on medicaid. Myself I would never be able to work with that doc again. She is totally sabatoging you and any help you might have gotten. I would demand she remove the offending parts of your records and threaten her with reporting to the state med assoc. and the medicaid folks. She is no doubt doing the same things to others.
Can your pain doc refer you to a neurologist? Even so if those records aren't corrected they will just follow you where ever you go. Sounds like she is a real piece of work. I'm praying you will finally get put in touch with someone who can indeed help you! God bless and at least now you know where the problem came from so you can work at getting it corrected.

I totally agree with everything that Hislady wrote, This doctor needs to be dealt with, don't forget everybody has a Boss...you need to find out who her boss is and set up a meeting with that person along with your pain doc, therapist, etc and your PC doc, get everything out in the open and let the others vouch for you, and they will. Don't let her get away with this please don't. Also, make sure the derrogatory statements get removed like Hislady said. Find you a new doc after this is all said and done. Time to pack up and move on, that's what I'm
about to do with my PC whom I've only had since July, my doc left in June, loved her, she cared about me...and that's what we need, someone who genuinally cares.
Praying for you hun, keep me posted...

I know exactly how you all feel!

Find a new doctor!

I get medical help at an HMO and they assigned me to a new doctor. I had a protruding disk for which I was taking narcotic pain releivers. He just said, "well you have fibromyalgia, what do you expect?"

He sent me to a pain clinic where the doctor basically said the same thing. I got really pissed and wrote a letter about being hit by a truck and having a protruding disk and that neither one had anything to do with FM. To my surprise, my new primary appologized and said that his mother and sister both suffered from FM and that they would be ashamed of him if they knew that he had dismissed me. He had me back and did xrays and sent me to physical therapy.

The exercise has helped a lot! My xrays showed I have arthritis and bone spurs in the painful joints. He has scheduled an MRI to check out what's going on in my neck and when I told him I was tired all the time he set me up for a sleep study. (the Sleep specialist says I have symptoms of a serious sleep disorder.)

The point is, This time I didn't let it go. I *****ed. I had the added support of a husband who also *****ed. (sometimes it helps if a man gets mad).

But it sound like you have a long term problem with this one. Make sure you publish her name so none of us get stuck with her!

By the way, I have emotional problems. I have double depression and a severe anxiety disorder. That doesn't mean I'm not in pain.

Legally you have the right to wright an answer to her comments and have it put in your record. I've done that before, too. Just make sure you answer each negative comment logically and calmly and tell her you are having it placed in your file.

She also has superiors that might want to hear from you. You may not be the first patient she didn't listen to.

Oh, and I just remembered! I have taken witnesses to my appointment and had doctor's back track like crazy when they know someone else is there to back you up. I have gone with friends and suddenly their doctors are all cooperative!

Also, request copies of your records at every appointment. You have a right to see what is written about you. At the HMO I go to, our records are available on line. That way, I can print them out and take them with me if I see a doctor outside of the HMO and I know when there has been a misunderstanding.

Hope something will help. I know exactly how you feel. It's like that doctor was in a completely different conversation than what you thought you were having.

So sorry that happens. Let us know how it turns out!

I vote that you find another MD !  My daughter is a full time student and her income qualities for public assistance and know the trouble finding professional care is.  Many Doctors do not understand fibro and some think it is seeking because of it.
Have you seen a Rhumatology Doctor yet?  I found the person there that beleived me and started to treat me correctly.  I Started a privite pay fibromyalgia/ fatuge clinic last month it has made a difference- but it is privite pay.  I do two IM's a week and take a multitude of vitimins , herbs,as well as being treated for many co-dependant thingswith scrips like virial load, fungul infections in skin folds, a elevated anti T3 , low iron, low Vit D and more to come next week when more blood work comes back.
Try long hot showers for comfort ( stay in as long as you can)  the warmth gets into your muscles and helps.  I found that the breathing and relaxation excersizes that I took for childbirth also helped with the fibro pain.  For you oral pain treatment is the answer but you can try a teaspoon of salt disolved in warm water and do rinses this as a trick from a navy man I got several years ago.  It may help alittle.  Get on that waiting list as if another opens up you can cancel.  You may get a list from theSS office of oral surgens that take Medicaide.  My daughter has to travel45 minutes to an hour to see her dentist.
Good Luck to you!

Gee I wonder why most if not all FM people have depression, want relief what ever it is, and sleeping problems that just makes it all worse..
When we HURT every where everyday of our lives, and then can't sleep to get any releif.....I am sure that if these Doctors had fibro there would be more research done!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a wonderful doctor.  She has told me that fibro pain does indeed get elevated when you do not sleep well.   She also said that the fibro in the nerves can cause the depression.

She has be on Cymbalta and Trazadone.   It doesn't alleviate all of the fibro pain, but I can sleep 8 hours at night now.   I work full time, and after work I must take a strong pain reliever.  She has me on Vicodin and prescribes it carefully but when I need it.  I can only get 2 refills.  So every 3 months, I go back and get another 'script.

I pay for the pain meds without insurance.  They require 90 day mail in and the doc doesn't want me to have that much on hand at a time.  I'm careful not to need a refill before 30 days is up.  I would be quite unhappy if she decided to take it away.
