Does anyone know if Lyica causes weight gain?
I had RYN about 6 weeks ago and have lost about 33lbs and feeling really great about that, however my fibro is aweful and my doc just upped my Lyica to 300mg a day....feel so drugged in the morning it's hard to care for my 1 yr old.
Does anyone know of anything that helps, that DOESN"T make a person feel so sleepy all the the time?

Oh yeah lyrica is notorious for causing weight gain. I take cymbalta and that works pretty well for me, not pain free but tolerable. There is another new drug savella that is also supposed to work well. Talk to your doc about changing. Good luck!

I take Cymbalta too. I noticed immediate pain relief in the legs. I take it once a day at night and although it's not a cure all, it helps tremendously.

I am taking Savella and it seems to be helping, I have been in it for just over a month now and there is imporvement. My dr picked it cause it has the lest in side effects and weight gain is not one of them! Good luck, and great job congratz!~

I was on Lyrica a few years and I felt I gained weight and became dizzy with a dose high enough to help.   I was put on Savella and it was wonderful.  The only downside is I had to eat with the pill or I had nausea.  Bread seemed to help the best with the nausea.  So, I quit taking it before I had my lap band surgery and will get back on it once my diet is not restrict.  I know I won't be able to eat the bread so I will have to experiment.  Right now I am taking 150 mg Ultram and 750 Relefan in the am and 100 mg Ultram around 3.  I can't take the meds at night because I can't sleep so I am sore in the morning but get relief within 1 hour.  Just a suggestion.

I take cymbalta and I also wear a pain patch which I change out every 72 hours.  Between the two I am able to live pain-free for the most part and I don't ever feel drugged from the meds.

I also have Minere's Disease which is harder for me to manage than the Fibro.

I was on lyrica for quite some days.. if you are worried about taking the lyrica and you and you doc can agree to alter your dosage enough to give you relief for the next month or two, you may be able to hold out for the new fibro med that is coming out. That is another option. Savella has actual shown to cause weight loss, not weight gain.
