Just found out

About 6 weeks ago I went in for my annual check up and addressed my excessive weight (50lbs). Being only 5 foot tall I wanted to explore the WLS avenue, I thought that it was the reason I was in chronic pain. He told me my BMI wouldn't support WLS, he also ran a bunch of tests.  Told me to exercise as that is my major problem. Well it hurts doc.

I had signed up for OH, trying to be prepared if the Dr said I was a canidate. I had another appointment with him on Friday and he told me my aches & pains were the direct result of fibro. He has put me on Lyrica, but i'm not that good at taking pills. I guess I will have to get good at it.

I just wanted to introduce myself, i'm sure you'll be seeing a lot of me around these parts. On a good note, i've lost 10 lbs. I can actually pull my jeans on and off without unbuttoning them.

Welcome aboard! Yep with only 50 lbs to lose WLS isn't really an option. Now that you know what causes the pain you can learn to work thru the pain. It'll never go completely away but the more you can exercise the better off you are. Most of us haven't had real good luck with lyrica for some reason. Not to worry tho there is also cymbalta (which I take) and savella that work on fibro. You are fortunate indeed to have a doc that identified it, so many of them say it's all in our heads. Anyway it's a pretty overall consensus that surgery doesn't help the fibro at all so the doc saved you having an unnesssary surgery. Congrats on the weight loss already, stick with it and those pesky lbs will be gone in no time. If you have any particular questions we can help you with just ask away!

So Cymbalta works for fibro??? I never knew it.  I was on Lyrica for a bit but didnt really help.  Before that I was on some sort of anti seizure medication, I forgot the name.  I take Cymbalta, and Trazadone.  Jusr recently I have been having horrible restless leg, anyonr else experinecing that?

Thank you Hislady, you are right about the lyrica, it's not doing much. I'm in orlando right now condo shoping, so all this walking is killing me. Being squished into the small airplane seat yesterday left bruises on my both my hips.

You'll see me around more in the coming weeks. I'm in the process of a legal seperation and moving, but should get back on here within a week or 2 to really connect with ya'll.
